[29147] Christian's obituary in The Herald of Truth: "Christian B., son of Benjamin and Mary Hursh Brenneman, was born in Wayne Co., O., April 17, 1842, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Sohpia Shenk, near Elida, Ohio, Oct. 21, 1927; aged 85 y. 6 m. 4 d. He was baptized and received in the Mennonite Church in 1863 by bishop Abraham Rohrer. On June 2, 1863, he was married to Susanna Brenneman of Allen Co., O., with whom he lived in matrimony for 61 years, she having preceded him in death August 15, 1924. To this union were born three daughters --Sophia E. (married to Isaac Shenk), Lydia M. (deceased), and Mary C. (Married to Charles Brenneman). Besides his two daughters he leaves two brothers (Adam and Abraham) and two sisters (Mrs. Abraham Huntsburger and Mrs. David Hilty). He also leaves seventeen grandchildren and forty-one great-grandchildren. Bro. Brenneman moved to Allen Co., Ohio, in the fall of 1868. In Jan. 1871, he was ordained to the ministry at the Sherrick (now Salem) church near Elida, Ohio, by Bishop George Brenneman. In this calling he served the Church faithfully as long as health permitted. He was a pioneer in evangelistic efforts in the Mennonite Church, traveling extensively in that work, and doubtless many people in many parts of the church cherish the fond recollection that thru his untiring efforts, and the mighty power of God accompanying his mighty voice, they were led to accept Jesus Christ as their personal Savior. He was much concerned about the welfare of the Church, and labored earnestly that the Church might remain true to the faith of our fathers and be kept free from the entanglements of worldliness in all its forms. Our departed brother bore his last illness with patience and resignation and repeatedly expressed his desire to go home. The funeral was held at the Salem Church on the afternoon of Oct. 23. Prehaps only twice in the history of the Salem Church did a larger number of people assemble at that place, and witness the laying to rest of a body in the Salem Cemetery. Services were conducted by Geo. Ross, and assisted by G. H. Brunk, P. E. Brunk, J. B. Smith and David Good (home ministers) and S. G. Shenk of Continental, Ohio, and Andrew Shenk of Oronogo, Mo."

[1039] Anthony rec'd 30 acres at Lynn, Mass.,1638(?) - he came to Lynn in 1630. See "Newhall Family of Lynn, Mass.," Henry F. Waters (Salem, MA, Essex Institute, 1882, Part I); Essex Co. Quarterly Court Records, II:32-34. Anthony is thought to descend from Thomas Newhall whose will is dated in 1498, proved 22 Jan 1499. "The American Genealogist," Vol. 65, No. 2 (April, 1990), p. 66 under Olney Bishop's Transcripts: "Anthony Newall & Mary White [married] November 6, 1632"; and under Bucks Diocesan Visitations - Sherington: "Anthonius Newell...for absenting himself from his own parish service and going to Olney or Newport [Pagnell] many Sundaies in the afternoons many times both forenoons and afternoons when wee have had 2 sermons at home 20 July 1633". Does the above give a second marriage for Anthony? - under Sherington this source says "Anne Newall the daughter of Anthony Newall baptized the 8th of Januarye 1620[/1]." There is also a reference under Olney to a Francis Newell, dau. of Wydow Newell, buried in 1604. There is no reference to Anthony's parents. His brother, Thomas (b. 1600, d. 25 May 1674, m. Mary Woodward and 2nd Mary Jane Penleton), came with Anthony and settled at Lynn where he died. He apparently came with his brother Thomas in the Winthrop Fleet to Salem, MA; both settled at Lynn. Thomas died 25 May 1674 and his will names Thomas' living children as Susanna, Thomas, John and Mary (b. ca. 1637, m. ca. 1653 Thomas Brown of Lynn), MA. For the culture of New England during his lifetime and beyond, see "Albion's Seed: Four British Folkways in America," David Hackett Fischer (NY: Oxford University Press, 1989), pp. 13-205.

[56758] "The Bangor Daily News [Bangor, Maine]," 19 November 2021: "Stockton Springs - Bruce G. Snowman "Poor Bruce" as many called him, 76, died peacefully at his home on Saturday, November 13, 2021. He was born in Castine, Maine, on January 15, 1945, the son of Gilbert R. and Kathleen L. (Harriman) Snowman. Bruce worked for and retired from the Bucksport Paper Mill, and he was an active member of the Stockton Springs Fire Department and Ambulance service. Bruce had an absolute love for deer hunting, to which he dedicated countless hours. He was so proud toward the end of his hunting career, to finally harvest a two hundred pound buck, to land him in the biggest bucks of Maine club. Bruce is survived by three stepchildren, whom he lovingly considered his own, Marsha Shute, Margo Shute, and Wesley Shute and his wife, Judy; one grandson, Joshua and his wife, Brittany; three great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Shute, Alivia Shute and Kylie Merrithew; two brothers, Jeff Snowman and his wife, Bonnie, and Chris Snowman; a special sister, Nancy Wasson; special friend, Eric Dodge; his faithful canine companion, Bear; as well as several nieces and nephews, and many friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his loving wife, Gloria (Pinkham) Snowman; and one brother, Stephen Snowman."
