[11525] The 1940 federal census lists John (age 88, b. in OH) in the family of his son, Freace, in Cedar Rapids, Blackhawk Co., IA. "The Waterloo Daily Courier, 04 Dec 1942," p. 2: "John Luther Heichel, former Black Hawk and Grundy county farmer and resident of Waterloo, died at 2:40 a. m. Friday at the home of his son. Freace Heichel, 722 Fourth avenue, Cedar Falls, where he had lived since 1934. He was 91 years old. He came to Iowa in 18U7 and farmed for approximately 21 years near Reinbeck, Cedar Falls, Hudson and Waterloo. In 1918 he moved to Waterloo and operated a vegetable, flower and feed store on Jefferson street, between Fifth and Sixth streets. After four years he retired. He was born in Ashland county, Ohio, May 6. 1851, the son of Joseph and Sarah Ann Heichel. On Dec. 30, 1878, he married Mary Easterday. She died in 1934. Surviving are three sons. Jerome, 91 Mulberry street; Byron, Stanwood, Wash., and Freace, Cedar Falls; a daughter, Mrs. Percy L. Jones, Bucyrus, O.; 23 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. His five brothers and five sisters are dead."

Penobscot) - Their family moved to Blue Hill; Nathaniel was a soldier in the War for Independence. Mark's brother, Mighill, m. Catherine Condon (d. 9 Dec 1877 at age 75 yr, 6 mo, 17 days); Mighill served in the War of 1812 and d. 26 Feb 1882 at age 87 and is buried in Penobscot's Hillside Cemetery." March, Oct. 6, 1821, Katherine Condon, born June 22, 1802, Brooksville. Me., died Dec. 9, 1877. He fought in the War of 1812 on Lake Champlain and on the great lakes. He enlisted in the Navy and was in two battles. 9 children."
