[148] William was a blacksmith and resided at Penobscot, Maine. The 1850 federal census in Penobscot, Hancock Co., ME lists him adjacent to his son, William, as a farmer with real estate worth $500. The first schoolmaster in the village, James Whitelaw, for many years "taught in the home of William Conner, as early as 1785 and as late as 1791." {-"Penobscot Bicentennial" [booklet], p.31} John and Elizabeth had a large family; the children listed here are those whose names were remembered by Fred S. Conner in 1938 and Ardelle M. Conner in 1932 (in a letter to her niece Luena) - they are not listed in birth order. William's death is reported in the "U.S. Federal Census Mortality Schedules, 1850-1885" (Page: 2, Line: 1, Roll: 32145_222225. Archive Collection Number: 2) where he is listed as a seaman and as having died of consumption.

The unverified McMullen Family Tree in Ancestry.com in 2014 states Nicholas m. Mary 1 March 1640 in Hartford and provides his ancestry.
A note in Ancestry.com states: "Nicholas Disborough of Hartford in New England was strangely molested by stones, pieces of earth, cobs of Indian corn, etc., falling upon and about him. . . . The molestation began soon after a controversy arose between Disborough and another person about a chest of clothes." This is from "Entertaining Satan: Witchcraft and the Culture of New England" by John Putnam Demos, at page 293, published in 1983 by the Oxford University Press. Nicholas Disborough is counted among the first Puritan settlers of the Colony of Connecticut.
[14540] Ancestry.com offers: "Hopkins Name Meaning - English: patronymic from Hopkin. The surname is widespread throughout southern and central England, but is at its most common in South Wales. [35164] This person's information is from the unverified Wanner Family Tree in Ancestry.com in 2013 which states Peter m. in 1622 (seems too early) in Altdorf to Catharina _____(b. 1600). This Tree also states Peter is son of Nicolaus Luginstand (b. 1575) and wife Maria Wolff (b. 1580). This line requires further research.
