[47030] The 21 April 1930 federal census in Letts, IA shows George as a railroad section foreman - in his household are seven Mexican-born section hands, one with a wife and four children. - this census indicates George is of Irish parentage. "Quad-City Times [Davenport, Iowa], 8 May 1923," p. 9: "Letts. Ia., May 8 - George Bailey, well known citizen of the community, died at his home here Saturday night, at the age of 67 years. He was born in Jones county, August 8, 1855. Very early in life he moved with his parents to Muscatine where his, father was employed in the building of the Rock Island R. R. West. At the age of 15 years he entered the employ of this same company, of which he has been in continuous service as section foreman, and vice chairman of the Maintenance of Way System ever since. On March I5, 1879 he was united in marriage to Mary E. Roberts, who preceded him in death Dec. 28, 1912. To this union eight children were born, five of whom are living. They are. Lulu Gideon of Ottumwa, W. G. Bailey of Mt. Vernon; Bertha Stump, Ethel Stump and George Bailey of Letts. He was a member of the M, E. church, of the Modern Woodmen of America, and the Independent Order of Odd Fellows. On June 30, 1915, he was united in marriage to Mrs. Mamie Roberts, who with two brothers, John J., of Washington, Iowa, and T. A. Bailey, of Temple, Ariz.; two sisters, Mrs. Thomas Cotter of Fort Cobb of Oklahoma, Mary A. Cotter of Letts, four step children and 25 grandchildren survive him. The funeral service was held at the M. E. church Monday at 2:30 p. m., Rev. LeMott officiating. Interment was made in the Letts cemetery with the lodge members conducting the burial service."

Sam was honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy after serving from 1951 to 1955 in Japan and Korea. He was an avid tool collector, trader and antique dealer. Golfing, fishing, and hunting were his passions. He worked diligently on his treadmill and lifted weights until recently."

[10390] Ira and brothr John operated the Mishler Brothers Implement Co. at Sabetha, KS from 1913. Ira's son, Roy, took over the company when he came home from serving in the U. S. Navy in 1919 and bought out his uncle John in 1948 - the firm became the Mishler Chevrolet Co. (121-123 Washington Ave., Sabetha). The Morrill Weekly News, 12 Dec 1918, p. 2: Ira Mishler died last Friday afternoon at his late home at Sabetha with pneumonia that developed following an attack of the flu. Mr. Mishler was a member of the firm of Mishler Bros., implement and auto dealers at Sabetha. Before going into business he was engaged in farming for a number of years in the Rock Creek neighborhood. Deceased was around 48 years of age. He first complained of not feeling well on Thanksgiving day but continued to get about till some three days before his death, when he took to his bed. Even then his condition was not regarded as critical. Beside his widow he is survived by two sons, Roy, who is in the navy, and Milton, who was recently mustered out of the army at Camp Funston; and two daughters; Mrs. Clark Shadel of Morrill and Miss Lola Mishler, who is attending a business college at Quincy, Illinois.
