Eleanor Heckman, 87, loved spending her time in the kitchen throughout the year. Mrs. Heckman died Friday at her home, 1266 Manchester Road. 'She loved preparing a big meal for the whole family,' said Galen (Marjorie) Cartwright, one of Mrs. Heckman's two daughters. 'She loved her family and doing things for them more than anything. People were always stopping by and there was always a place at the table for them.' Although Mrs. Heckman referred to cooking as her real hobby, Mrs. Cartwright said she used to do a lot of needle work. 'But once she got up in years she had to give it up.' Mrs. Heckman was born in Middlebury, which is now East Akron. She and her husband Ora were married for 55 years. He died in 1966. She was a former member of the Kent School Reunion Club, Favorite Review, Women's Benefit Association and the Akron China Club. She leaves another daughter, Mildred Heckman, also of Akron, a granddaughter and two greatgrandchildren. Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Billows Falls chapel. Burial will be in Greenlawn cemetery."
