[29155] Benjamin's obituary in The Herald of Truth: "On the 20th of Feb.1898 at the home of his son-in-law and daughter Mr. and Mrs. Christian Horst, near East Greenville, Stark Co., Ohio, Benjamin Brenneman, aged 79 years, 8 months and 15 days. He was born in Lancaster Co., Pa., June 5th 1818. He was married to Mary Hursh, who preceded him to the glory world about ten years ago. He leaves six children, twenty five grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, one brother and one sister to mourn his departure. He was a consistent member of the Mennonite Church for many years. He took sick very suddenly with paralysis, of which he suffered only about five days when the Lord released him from his pain, and he has now gone home, we hope, to meet the loved ones who have gone before. Since the death of his wife, he had his home among some of his children where he is greatly missed. Funeral on Tuesday Feb. 22nd. Buried at the Martin M. H., where services were conducted by Bro. I. J. Buchwalter at the house and Bro. D. Garber and Bro. D. Hostetler at the church, from 1 Cor. 15:54." See http://aqua.dev.uga.edu/~lebo/brenneman-pa_geno.html for ancestry.

[11459] William m. (1) Margaret de Ufford, dau. of Robert de Ufford, Earl of Suffolk, and Margaret de Norwich, dau. of Sir Walter de Norwich. See "Ancestral Roots...," Frederick L. Weis (Baltimore: Genealogical Publishing Co., 1992 - 7th Edition) Line 11 (p. 15). Find A Grave Memorial 71639009 offers: "William became 3rd Baron of Groby at the age of 9, but quickly gained seizin of his holdings, with an annuity of £50 at age 12 and licence of the moiety of his manors by age 17. Two years later he was knighted, paid his knights fee and his homage to the King, and received livery of all his parents former lands in England and Ireland. Military prowess was the measure of such advancement, and he joined Prince Edward's command (the future Edward III) in time for the 1355 campaign in Gascony. The following year he was in the Earl of Suffolk's command at the Battle of Poitiers. His father had been a stalwart of Edward II, and William showed conspicuous ambition, undertaking to join the King for several years of campaigning in France, and was exepmted from Royal levies on his holdings in compensation-- a sure sign of high favor in times where Edward II was so beset by rivalries and outright threats to his rule, that he had episodes of paranoia. Unlike many of his descendants, who had to cover all contingencies during the chaos after Edward III's reign, William had no appetite for conspiracy, and busied himself in further military service-- but he chafed for action during the brief intervals of peace, showing at least one element of the complex and fractious temperment that was to thrive in coming generations when nuance was the norm, and loyalties were sworn with undisclosed contingencies in mind. He rose in station, marrying the daughter of his patron the Earl of Essex, Margaret de Ufford, and his son Henry grew up in the "family business" of that Lord, which was the practiced study and vigorous prosecution of war-- and did justice to the advantages of his breeding and training, during the long and expansionist reign of Edward III."

[12613] "Santa Cruz Sentinel [Santa Cruz, California]," 10 February 2001, p. 12: "Services are today for Loleta Sunshine Hough Heichel, who died Sunday at her Santa Cruz home. She was 93. Mrs. Heichel had suffered from Parkinson's disease. She was born in Iowa and lived in Santa Cruz for almost 30 years. Family members say she was independent and quit school at 16 to work, but returned later to complete her studies. Mrs. Heichel met her future husband at Bell Telephone and the couple left for California in a new 1929 Chevrolet, despite a blizzard. The Chevy cost $500. They were married 62 years. The couple celebrated their golden anniversary in 1979, and the Sentinel reported that the couple rode to the party in a '30s era Chevy, followed by friends and relatives riding in vintage cars. They lunched at Gilda's, on the wharf. Mrs. Heichel loved her grandchildren and was a kid herself when it came to ice cream and chocolate, family members say. She was both light-hearted and a firm disciplinarian. She loved to win at dominos. Mrs. Heichel had many interests, including travel and camping, especially in Yosemite. She was an avid antique collector who rented space at After Effects on Soquel, and was adept at sewing and knitting. She also became a canny real estate investor after her children left home, her daughter said. Mrs. Heichel was a born-again Christian, and one of her greatest joys to was to sing and play hymns on the piano. She is survived by daughters Laurie Potovsky-Beachell of Rosser, Manitoba, Canada, Susan Heichel of Lake Oswego, Ore., and Carol Glover of Santa Cruz; sons Bill Heichel and Don Heichel, both of Santa Cruz; 13 grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter. Her parents, two sisters, a brother, her husband, J. L. 'Clair' Heichel, and a baby son, Richard, died before her." Loleta r. Santa Cruz, CA as a widow. "Iowa, County Births, 1880-1935," index, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/XV4K-Y3P) lists her as daughter of J. W. Hough and Maud Ellis. "United States Census, 1910," index and images, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/ML1W-W6L) states her parents are John Hough (age 37, b. in IA) and Maude C.
