[14555] Ancestry.com offers: "Nye Name Meaning - English (southeastern): topographic name arising from a misdivision of Middle English atten (e)ye which means either 'at the river' or 'at the island', from Old English ea 'river' and eg 'island' respectively. Both these words were feminine in Old English, and so should have been preceded only by Middle English atter (see Rye), but distinctions of gender ceased to be carefully maintained in the Middle English period."

A descendant wrote on https://www.ancestry.com/boards/surnames.zumbro that Henry and Rosanna had ten children - "Rosanna Loretta (my great-great-grandmother), Mary Elizabeth, Clarrinda, Henry, Rozelia, Ora Esther, Almeda, Melvin, Ellsworth, and Leroy." Henry was a surgeon during the war Between the States - see article "Heintzelman's Inttelligence Chief" in "Surveillance and Spies in the Civil War: Exposing Confederate Conspiracies . . . ," Stephen E. Towne (Ohio University Press, 2014) and https://scholarworks.iu.edu/journals/index.php/imh/article/view/20474/26537. Polk's 1890 Medical and Surgical Register lists a Henry S. Zumro as a graduate of the College of Physicians and Suregons, St. Joseph, MO in 1880 and a surgeon in Republican City, Harlan Co., NE - he could be son Henry S., Jr. It appears that Henry's physician's office is shown at http://www.fairy-lamp.com/SPCMuseum/Tour_Doctors_Office.html.
