Zion Lutheran Church; Adams Lodge 319 F & AM New Bloomfield; a member for over 50 years of Mt. Dempsey Lodge, IOOF, of Landisburg. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Gladys L. Bower; a step-daughter, Mrs. Barbara Neff, Ickesburg R. D.; a daughter, Miss Gloria M., at home; two sons, Milton R., Jr., and Andrew T., both at home. Services will be held at 2:30 p. m. today, May 3, at Mt. Zion Lutheran Church, with his pastor, Rev. John M. Aurand, officiating. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery."

Gertrude was born on February 12, 1916 in Altamont, Kansas to Wilbert and Minne (Grey) Bryner. She grew up in Coffeyville, Kansas where she received her high school education. On February 12, 1936 she was united in marriage to Dean Oakley Bowersox in Coffeyville, Kansas. Of that union two children were born. The couple later divorced. Gertrude held various jobs throughout the years. She worked at Rok-A-Chair, and worked at her sister Mary's restaurant, Brownie's Grill. She later was a care taker for Mary whom she was very close to. Gertrude was always very devoted to Mary's extended family. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She taught Sunday school and was active in the Methodist Women's Group. Surviving to honor her memory are her children, Darrell Bowersox and wife, Annie of Baldwin City, Kansas, Dennis Bowersox and wife, Winnie of North Andover, Massachusetts; grandchildren, Abigail, Andrew, Kimberly and Karl, two great-grandchildren Anna Bell and Oakley, she is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilbert and Minne; brothers, Ralph and Harold; sisters, Irene, Alice and Mary."

Strout, 82, a former road commissoner for the town of Brownville, died here Monday evening after a short illness, He was born at Charleston, February 17, 1882, the son of Oliver and Lois (Abbee) Strout. He had lived at Brownville for several years and had been engaged in lumbering and farming. At one time he had served as road commissioner. For many years he had boarded with Mr. and Mrs. Rolfe Davis. Survivors are two sons, Arthur Strout of Brownville and Lt. Col. Donald Strout of Tucson, Ariz.; one grandson of Brownville; one granddaughter of Tucson; and one brother, Jame Strout of Aspinwall, Pa."

Shughart, wife of Mr. Joseph Shughart, died at her home in Lower Frankford township, Sunday morning at 7 o'clock, aged 70 years, 6 months and 11 days. Mrs. Shughart was a most estimable woman, a devoted wife, and a kind and affectionate mother. She is survived by a husband and the following children: Franklin, of South Middleton township; Geo. W., Middlesex township; Joseph B., Frankford township; Elmer P., Frankford township: Harvey W., South Middleton township; Wilson A., South Middleton township, and Mrs. C. C. Miller, Frankford township. She is also survived by a number of sisters and brothers. The funeral will be held from her late home Tuesday morning, meeting at house at 9:30 o'clock.
