[47599] "Bangor Daily News, 7 May 2014": "Rebecca (Leach) Orcutt born July 20, 1929, passed away May 5, 2014 after a long illness. Becky was born in Penobscot to Dwight and Erma Perkins Leach. She attended Penobscot schools and graduated from Clark High School. Becky had a strong work ethic. She started her career in healthcare as an X-Ray technician at Castine Hospital, later graduating at the top of her class from Central Maine Medical Center School of Nursing. She worked as a Registered Nurse at St. Joseph Hospital and the Director of Nursing at Island Nursing before retiring. Becky was an accomplished seamstress. She designed and created several heirloom quilts including a bi-centennial display of Penobscot landmarks. She enjoyed gardening and spent many hours in her green house, vegetable and flower gardens. Among her beautification projects was the creation and maintenance, for many years, of the window boxes and shrubbery around the Penobscot Town Hall. Becky was a member of the Penobscot Historical Society and donated the building, which is now 'the General Store.' In addition to her parents, Becky was predeceased by her husband, Ernest, brother, Robert Leach and sister, Esther Austin, nephew, Kerry Leach and nephew, Benjamin Austin. She is survived by daughters, Darlene Baut and husband, Harry of Nevada; Debby Brown and husband, Eric of Benton; sisters, Rose and husband, Halford Grindell of Penobscot; Margaret and husband, Norris Austin of Penobscot; Roberta Burbank of Bangor; brother-in-law, James Austin and sister-in-law, Nancy Leach. Becky leaves four grandchildren, Greg Smith and wife, Melisa of Nevada, Addie Buck and husband, Shawn of Clinton, Michael Brown and wife, Isabella of Massachusetts and Paige Brown of Northport. Becky also leaves six great-grandchildren, Jon, Henry, Noah, Lillian, Andrew and Julian. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews to include a special nephew, Jack."

He was a graduate of Caribou High School, Class of 1951, and a graduate of Southern Technical Institute, Class of 1955, with a degree in gaseous fuels technology. He served with the U.S. Navy from 1955 to 1957. Surviving, in addition to his wife of 56 years, Annella (Tupper) Thomas of Caribou, are three sons and their families, Frederick Thomas Jr. and his wife, Beverly, of Washburn, George Thomas and his wife, Regina, and Elvin Thomas and his wife, Tammy, all of Caribou; two daughters and their families, Karen Henderson and her husband, Jim, of Caribou, and Evelyn "Lynn" Dow and her husband, Dwayne, of Wade; a brother, David Thomas and his wife, Muriel, of Caribou; two sisters, Harriet Jackson of Thornton, Texas, and Beverly Hightower and her husband, David, of Texas; three sisters-in-law, Janice Thomas of Florida, Alice Crawford of Florida, and Norma Ackerson and her husband, Hugh, of Woodland; a brother-in-law, Wallace Tupper and his wife, Linda, of Perham; 17 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; a brother, Richard Thomas; brothers-in-law, Bill Jackson and George Tupper; and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Mary and Elvin Tupper. Interment with military honors will take place at Evergreen Cemetery, Caribou."
