[11489] Maud (or Mabel or Mabirie) was living 1 May 1204. She m. William de Vernon (1155-1217), fifth Earl of Devon (son of Baldwin de Reviers and Adelise ____). Maud and William had Mary de Vernon who m. (1) 1200 Sir Peter de Prouz of Chagford, Devonshire, and (2) Sir Robert de Courtenay (d. ca. July 17, 1242/3) (Baron of Oakhampton). Mary and Sir Robert had Sir John de Courtenay who m. Isabel de Vere (granddaughter of Robert de Vere, Magna Charta Surety).
[2145] William joined the great revolt of 1173 and in defeat saw his castles razed. They were rebuilt when the earldom was restored, and Tutbury Castle remained in the family until 1266.
