She was born in Newbury, MA, and resided in the Hartford area for 33 years. Delia was a graduate of Salem Business College, Salem, MA, and came to Hartford In 1926 to teach at the Hartford Secretarial School. She retired from the Aetna Life and Casualty Insurance Co., Hartford. She was a member of Sons and Daughters of the First Settlers of Newbury, Massachusetts. She is survived by her five children, Howard W. Ryder III of Akron, OH, Joan Ryder of East ; Hartford. Jean R. Locke of Alexandria, VA, Ann Ryder of East Hartford, and John D. Ryder of Needham, MA; a sister, Maude E. Fitzsimmons and a brother, Alfred H. Fitzsimmons, both of East Hartford. A memorial service will be held Tuesday (Jan. 2), 2 p.m., at Burnside United Methodist Church, 16 Church St., East Hartford. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family in Colchester, CT. There are no calling hours. Memorial donations may be made to the Burnside United Methodist Church, 16 Church St., East Hartford 06108. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Hartford County Direct Cremation and Burial Society, New Britain."

"The Bangor Daily News [Bangor, Maine]," 3 May 1918, p. 6: "Clifton Corner - After years of ill health and several months of suffering Mrs. Edith Carver passed away quite suddenly early Thursday morning. She leaves besides husband, four daughters and a son, Mrs. Minerva Allen, Mrs. Nora Humphrey, Mrs. Dilla Kingman, Mrs. Viola Bragg and Arthur Carver, Jr.; two brothers, Charles and Winfield Gusha, and a sister, Mrs. Effie Orcutt of Benton. The funeral services were held at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Humphrey, where she passed away."

[7751] William is age 43 in the 1920 census of Madison Twp., Perry Co., PA where he is listed with wife May (age 44) and daughter Annie (14) - this census records that the parents of William and May were b. in PA. "The Perry County Democrat [Bloomfield, Pennsylvania], 1 Jan 1941," p. 3: "The many friends of William G. Gutshall, of Blain, were shocked and saddened to learn of his death last Thursday. He was sitting in the store of his father-in-law, James C. Rickard, Esq., a few days previous, when he was seized with a paralytic stroke, from which he never regained consciousness. He had suffered a light stroke last spring, but had recovered from that attack. He was aged 64 years. William G. Gutshall was a son of George W. and Celeste Bennett Gutshall, deceased, and was born in Jackson township. In early life he engaged in farming but later took up his residence in Blain, where he conducted a grain and coal business. He was a member of the Blain Lutheran Church and in political faith was a staunch Democrat. For a number of years he served as a school director. Surviving him are his wife, the former Miss May Rickard, one son, James Gutshall of Shenandoah, Iowa; one grandchild, and one sister, Mrs. Margaret J. Dromgold, and brother, Harry W. Gutshall, both of Blain. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon in the Lutheran Church, conducted by the Rev. Glenn W. Foulke, and burial was in the Gutshall plot in the union cemetery, Blain."

[1781] Dermot or Dermond was deposed as King of Leinster in Ireland. His son Conor was blinded by an enemy in 1168, and later given as hostage to High King Roderick O'Connor.
