http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gilbert_de_Gant,_Earl_of_Lincoln offers in 2011: "Gilbert de Gant, 1st Earl of Lincoln (c. 1126 - 1156) was an English nobleman who fought for King Stephen during The Anarchy. He was the son of Walter de Gant and Maud of Brittany. An uncle, Robert de Gant, was Lord Chancellor for King Stephen.
While still fairly young, Gilbert fought on the side of king Stephen at the Battle of Lincoln in 1141, where he was captured along with the king. He was then compelled to marry Rohese de Clare, daughter of Richard de Clare, 1st Earl of Hertford and Adeliza de Meschines, and a niece of Ranulph de Gernon, 2nd Earl of Chester. In 1149 or 1150 the king made him Earl of Lincoln as a rival to William de Roumare, who had gone over to the side of Empress Matilda. He and Rohese had only one child, a daughter, Alice de Gant, who married Simon II de Senlis, Earl of Huntingdon-Northampton. He founded Rufford Abbey c. 1148 in Nottinghamshire, England."

[42803] William is son of Jonathon Hall (1794 - 1868) & Elizabeth Long (____ - 1838). "The Perry County Democrat [Bloomfield, Pennsylvania], 17 June 1908," p. 3: "William Hall, a former well-known and highly respected resident of this county, died at the home of his son, E. Grant Hall, in Fairmont, Neb., on Saturday evening, aged 86 years. His death was indirectly due to an accident which he sustained last December, when be fell and broke one of his hip bones, since which he had never been able to walk. It is also thought that he had a light stroke. His remains were brought east and passed through here today on the way to Landisburg, where the funeral will take place tomorrow (Thursday) morning at 10 o'clock. The deceased was a son of Jonathan and Elizabeth (Long) Hall and was born in Toboyne township in October, 1822. He moved from New Germantown to Alinda in 1865 and for the past twenty years had been living in the west. Mr. Hall was the father of ten children, eight of whom survive, namely: Rev. G. C. Hall, D. D., Wilmington, Del.; Matilda, (Mrs. Samuel Rice) Landisburg; Sarah, (Mrs. James Rhine-smith) Alinda ; Mary, (Mrs. D. J. Kell) of this place; William, Fairmont, Neb.; Maggie, (Mrs. Sylvester Spotts) Abilene, Kan.; Anna, (Mrs. George E. Aldrich) and E. Grant Hall), Fairmont, Neb. Mr. Hall when a young man became a member of the Reformed church, under the pastorate of Rev. Leinbach, After going west, there being no Reformed church near the place of his residence, he connected himself with the Congregational church. He was an honorable, conscientious, christian gentleman and lived a life of probity and usefulness, and when his summons came was ready to go. His memory will ever be cherished and revered by bis children and many friends."

[1946] Dermod ("Diarmait") was King of Hy Kinsale and usurped the high kingdom of Leinster. He was overlord of Ossory, Dublin and other local "kingdoms." "Medieval English Ancestors of Certain Americans," Carl Boyer III (Santa Clarita, CA, 2001), p. 122123 offers a different ancestry for him, stating his father is Donnchad (king of Munster from 1023 to 1064), who is son of Brian Boru (King of Ireland from 1002 to 1014).
