He retired from the active routine work of a farmer's life in 1883, and has since given considerable attention to business of other kinds. He owns two farms, one in the town of Dayton and the other in Richland. He was one of the promoters of and, during its existence, one of the trustees of the state bank at Richland Center, one of the stockholders in the original Pine River & Steven's Point Railroad, a tax-payer since 1854 who has held various local offices. On Aug.11,1862, he enlisted as corporal in Company B, 25th regiment; Wisconsin volunteer infantry."

Peck died at his home in Liberty Valley, Monday morning, March 5, at 4 o'clock. He was aged 65 years, 5 months and 26 days. Mr. Peck was one of Liberty Valley's prominent farmers and a good christian man. He will not only be missed by his wife and family but by his church and Sunday School, and also his neighbors. Mr. Peck had hosts of friends and made friends wherever he went. He was a member of the M. E. Church at Walsingham and always took an active part in the Lord's work. He served as superintednent of the Sunday School for several 3-ears and was the superintendent at the time of his death. He has left a vacant place that will be hard to fill. He is survived by his wife and the following children: Mrs. Jay Bixler and Mrs. Ray Weibley, of Saville; Mrs. Vernon Gutshall, of Blain ; James F. and George G. Peck, of Harrisburg; Marlin L. Peck and Mrs. Rankin Stine, of Liverpool ; Ray R. Peck, of Elliottsburg; Mrs. Edgar Maize, of Liverpool, and Mrs. Ernest Keemer, of Winfield. Two children, Esther and Clarence, are dead."
