Shortly after, she graduated from Delore Beauty School, and operated her own salon in Hermon for many years. She also worked as a nurse and a switch board supervisor for Bangor Mental Health Institute. She was a lifetime member of the Hermon Rescue Squad, a devoted member of the Hermon Baptist Church, a member of the Common Notion's Quilting Club, a past member of the Oddfellows Eastern Star Daughters of Rebekah. Shirley was an avid servant in many capacities in her community. She will be missed by family and many friends. Shirley is survived by her children, Lawrence 'Larry' Frost and wife, Robin, and Barbara Burgess and husband, Brent; grandchildren, Daniel Philbrick Jr., Barbara Frost, Lawrence 'Eddie' Frost II, and Katie Philbrick; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by, her son, Ronald Frost; granddaughter, Lisa Marie Frost; and brother, Clifton Nelson."
