[21220] Mary m. William Etzweiler (b. 9 Dec 1861, d. 7 Jan 1926) and had Lydia A. Etzweiler (b. in November, 1884 in PA) and Sallie M. Etzweiler (in January, 1887 in PA). "Shamokin News-Dispatch [Shamokin, PA], 9 December 1930," p. 1: "Mrs. Molly Etzweiler, relic of William Etzweiler, one of this city's best known and most highly esteemed residents, died at the family home, 22 North Rock street, at 8 o'clock last evening, following an illness of many months. Mother Etzweiler had been bedfast during the last eight weeks of her illness. A resident of this city for the past forty-three years, the lamented woman had become widely known thruout the community and enjoyed the highest respect of every acquaintance. Mrs. Etzweiler was a devout and faithful christian woman, active in Grace Lutheran church and its auxiliary organizations. She was also a member of the Daughters of Pocohontas and the Ladies of the Mystic Chain. During her long period of illness Mrs. Etzweller received the constant end faithful ministrations of her daughter, Miss Sallie, but despite medical care and tender nursing, the spark of life dimmed steadily and death came peacefully last evening. Polly, daughter of Jacob and Lydia Ritzman, was born April 3, 1862, at Gratz, Dauphin county, where she subsequently became the wife of William Etzweller, who preceded her in death January 7, 1926. Surviving the respected resident are two daughters, Miss Sallie, at home, and Mrs. Lydia Conrad, of Sewarren, N. J., who only a few weeks ago buried her husband, Harry Conrad, in this city. One brother, John Ritzman, of Castle Rock, Washington, and two sisters, Mrs. Malinda Schlegel, of this city, and Mrs. Lydia Buffington, of Harrisburg, together with five grandchildren, also survive."
[8711] "The Perry County Times [New Bloomfield, PA], 20 June 1935," p. 7: "Mrs. Mary Louise Bower, aged 43 years, 6 months and 29 days, beloved wife of M. R. Bower, of Bridgeport, died in the Carlisle Hospital, June 19, at 4:29 a. m., of uremia, following a short period of ill health. She was admitted to the hospital June 7, where every effort was made to restore her health, and her sudden death has cast a gloom over the entire community. She was a daughter of Peter Sheaffer and wife, Mrs. Winifred Caldwell Sheaffer, deceased, and was born in Tyrone township, November 20, 1891. She was a registered nurse, being a graduate of the Homeopathic Hospital, Pittsburgh, 1913, and did private nursing in Philadelphia and Pittsburgh, during and after the World War. She was married to Mr. Milton R. Bower, merchant, of Bridgeport, at Gettysburg, May 29, 1931, by the Rev. W. D. E. Scott, a former pastor of the Loysville Lutheran charge. She was a member of the Church of God, Landisburg, and after marriage was transferred to the Mt. Zion Lutheran Church, where she was most active member of the church, choir, Ladies' Aid Society and of the Young Ladies' Bible Class of the Sunday School, which she taught one year. She was a lady of lovely christian character, dearly beloved by her husband and very many friends, whose words of praise for her lovely and useful life and unselfish disposition, is a high tribute to her memory. Louise, as she was familarly known, was passionately fond of flowers and the beautiful song birds and wild life and none the less passionately fond of her home and devoted to her friends and home life. These beautiful traits no doubt a heritage from her beautiful, patient mother, who died when she was 8 years old. Her illness and death are a great shock to her many friends. Surviving her are her husband, her aged father, who is heart-broken over her death ; her step-mother, Mrs. Lily Lightner Sheaffer; two brothers, Ray, of Landisburg, and Paul, of Philadelphia two half-sisters. Sylvia (Mrs. Milo Valentine) and Fae (Mrs. John Sheaffer), of Landisburg. To all of these we extend the most sincere sympathy in their sad bereavement. Funeral services will be held in the Mt. Zion Lutheran Church, Saturday, at 2:30 p. m., her pastor, Rev. J. Grover C. Knipple, officiating. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery."
