Born Nov. 16, 1918, in Ringgold, Pa., he was the son of the late Cameron M. and Annie A. Lingenfelter Stewart. On Nov. 3, 1945, in Dayton, Ohio, he married Edythe M. Pierson who passed away on March 27, 1996. Stan was a 1938 graduate from Punxsutawney High School. He was of the protestant faith. Stan served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II, where he became a prisoner of war. He also served during the Korean and Vietnam wars. Stanley retired in 1962 at the rank of master sergeant. For his years of service, he was awarded the KS Medal, UNS Medal, NDS Medal, ACMB, EAMEC Medal, GC Medal with four Lapel Pins, World War II Victory Medal, AC Medal, ADS Medal, and AFLSA with four OLCs. Stan was employed as an aircraft mechanic for more than 25 years. After retirement, he worked for Wall Rope Co, in Beverly, repairing the machines that make rope. He also worked in helping design and develop the Chinook helicopters for Boeing-Vertol in Philadelphia. Stan was a life member of the Snow Shoe Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1544, life member of the Clarence American Legion Post 813, a member of the Moose Club 1565, Young Democratic Club in Clarence, and the 3 Point Sportsman Association in Clarence. He was a lifelong member of the Republican Party. His favorite pastime was spending time in the outdoors, fishing and hunting. He was the last of his generation. Stan is survived by his son, Jimmy S. Stewart and his wife, Debra, of Clarence, stepdaughters, Nancy L. Woodworth of Jacksonville, Fla., and Norma J. Assilin of Dumfries, Va. He also is survived by his nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Along with his parents and wife, Stan was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister."

He attended subscription schools in Juniata County, PA and could speak both English and German. He was reared to farming and spent his entire life in Spruce Hill Township, where he owned 106 acres of land, on which he began in the woods, cleared the land, erected a dwelling house, barn and other structures, planted an orchard and engaged in general farming. His death occurred in the Township, and he is buried at Church Hill. He was married in Milford Township to Susanna Groninger, of the same township. The children of this marriage are: Valentine, died a young man; Leonard, was a Lutheran minister and died in Missouri; Sarah A., wife of William Stewart; John; Jacob, a farmer of Spruce Hill Township; Caroline, deceased, wife of William Robinson; Jesse, died young. In his politics, Mr. Wisehaupt was a Democrat, and served in the offices of supervisor, school director, overseer of the poor, tax collector and accessor. He was one of the first members of the Lutheran Church, and aided in building the first house of worship, which was constructed of logs, and he took a prominent part in all church matters."
