"The Selinsgrove Times-Tribune [Selinsgrove, PA], 1 April 1948," p. 8: "Funeral services will be held Saturday for William E. Aucker, 84, who died yesterday morning of a heart condition at the home of his son, Frank Aucker, of North Eighth street. Prayer services will be held from the Aucker home at 1:30 P. M., and continued in the Evangelical and Reformed Church in Verdilla. The Rev. H. G. Snyder, pastor of the Freeburg Evangelical and Reformed Charge, will officiate, and interment will be in the cemetery adjoining the church. Born in Union township August 18, 1863, Mr. Aucker was the son of Peter and Catherine Aucker. He and the former Mary Elizabeth Riegel were married in 1891. Mrs. Aucker preceded him in death 11 years ago. Mr. Aucker resided for most of his life in Union township, and after the death of Mrs. Aucker, made his home with his sons. He was a member of the Evangelical and Reformed Church at Verdilla for 65 years, and was an active farmer thruout his life. He is survived by two sons, Frank Aucker, at whose home he died, and George A. Aucker, of R. R., Port Trevorton; a brother, J. Irvin Aucker, of Port Trevorton; five grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. A daughter preceded him in death 24 years ago."

Her father gave them 150 acres of land as a wedding present. Thomas was Deacon of the Topsfield Church and selectman. He and Phebe had nine children, listed in Perkins' "The Family of John Perkins of Ipswich, Mass." (1889). "The Great Migration Begins," R. C. Anderson (Boston: New England Historic Genealogical Society, 1999), 3:1432 reports that Thomas was baptised in 1623. [48114] "Anderson Daily Bulletin, 13 July 1959," p. 6: "William Harold Wardwell, 57, RR 4, Elwood, well known farmer in the community north of Elwood, died at 9 a.m. Saturday at his home after suffering a sudden heart attack. He resided with his mother, Mrs. Bessie Wardwell, who is critically ill at the Mercy Hospital in Elwood. Mr. Wardwell was born June 4, 1902, in Tipton County and was the son of Edward and Bessie Wardwell. He was married July 3, 1921, to Gertrude Bagley, who died Dec. 13, 1943. He was a member of the Harmony Christian Church. Surviving in addition to the mother are eight of his nine children: three sons, Howard E. Wardwell, Anderson; Charles C. Wardwell, Marion, and Robert E. Wardwell, Alexandria; five daughters, Mrs. Charlotte Brown, Anderson; Mrs. Donna Colbert, Marion; Mrs, Dora Nell Fields, Goshen; Miss Jane Wardwell, Anderson, and Miss Cora Belle Wardwell, at home, and nine grandchildren."
