[49618] "The Ellsworth American [Ellsworth, Maine]. 24 November 2021": "Hancock - Dwight Malcolm Sargent, 78, died Nov. 21, 2021, at a Bangor hospital. He was born in Brunswick, Oct. 12, 1943, the son of Shirley Rae and Emily Jane (Jellison) Sargent. Dwight worked at the Bucksport paper mill, retiring in 2011 after 41 years. He was a 4-H leader for 43 years as well as a member of the Hancock County 4-H Leaders Association. He had previously served as president for a number of years and most recently as a board member. He also had been on the Hancock County Extension Association Board for 30 years and served as livestock superintendent for Blue Hill Fair since 2011 and was a member of the board of directors. He walked many different paths during his life - some dirt, some sawdust, some hayfields and some lined with manure. As a young man, he thought his path for love and family was going in one direction, but that path was meant for someone else. In 1970, his path led him to a farm in Lamoine, where he met Gail and they began 50-plus years of love and family. Dwight is survived by his wife of 50 years, Gail, of Hancock; daughters, Karen Shea and husband, Rob, of Ellsworth, and Kelly Moon and partner Bryan Butler of Hancock; son, Douglas Sargent of Hancock; grandchildren, Abby, Matt, Hunter, Sara, Laney and Morgan; sisters, Sandra Carter and husband, Albert, and Brenda Swett and husband, Jerry, all of Ellsworth, and Bethany Sargent Kronstadt of West Paris; brother, Gary Sargent, and wife, Debbie, of Surry; stepmother, Judy Sargent, of South Paris; and many nieces and nephews. Those of you that knew Dwight knew that Christmas was his favorite holiday; you could see the outside lights from a distance. He would have the outside lights on from 4 p.m. to 6 a.m. the next morning. His comment was that there were so many people who worked evenings that they should enjoy some holiday lights. This year in his memory, please add a string or leave your lights on for an extra hour. He will be looking down and we know that he would be thinking - 'they finally get it.'"
[2680] "Cunedda" = Kenneth. "His origin, his career, and his name link the Roman past with the medieval future. He was a grandson of Paternus who had been appointed, probably by Valentinian, to rule the Votandini of the north-east coast, between Tyne and Forth. ...he is one of the first persons in authority in Britain who were known only by a personal name. His father, grandfather, and great-grandfather had all borne normal Roman names, and are given an origin among the cultured Romans of the south." He conquered Wales, migrating from his base in northern England where the Roman forces under Vortigern, based in York, moved in to fill the void. {-"The Age of Arthur," John Morris (Scribner's, 1973, p.66)} A Roman officer by birth, he is called "The Great". His biography is on-line in 2001 at http://www.britannia.com/bios/ebk/cunedwgd.html. Also see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cunedda.
