[39325] "Altoona Tribune [Altoona, PA], 28 March 1917," p. 10: "Mrs. Elizabeth Greer, aged 87, one of the oldest and best known women of Altoona, died suddenly yesterday morning at 8.30 o'clock, of diseases Incident to advanced age, at the home of her son, Charles A. Greer, 1120 Fifteenth avenue. Mrs. Greer was found unconscious on her bedroom floor at 7.30 o'clock. A physician was summoned hut the aged lady succumbed without being revived. She was evidently stricken while dressing. She had predicted the manner of her demise at noon on Monday, telling her family that she would be discovered on the floor some time. Her mother had predicted her death to the day that she passed away. Mrs. Greer was the daughter of Wilson and Rebecca Baird, and was born July 14, 1829, at Academia. Juniata county, where she resided until Christmas, 1849, when she wedded the late Adam J. Greer, a newspaper publisher at Mifflintown. The couple moved to this city in 1872, when Mr. Greer became editor of the Tribune. Her husband died August 26, 1890, and since then, Mrs. Greer resided chiefly with her son. At the age of 17 she joined the Methodist Episcopal church at Spruce Creek, Juniata county, and she was always an ardent Methodist. She was a member of the First church, this city, and attended services regularly until Thanksgiving Day 1915, when she fell and fractured her left leg, between the knee and ankle. She was in good health despite several falls she suffered within the last year. Her friends were legion and she possessed a wonderful memory. Her sight became affected lately and she could not see to read. Mrs. Greer is survived by one son, with whom she made her home; a daughter, Mrs. Matilda Caldwell, of Ottumwa, la.; a sister, Mrs. Mary Leigh, and two brothers, Wilson and George Baird, all of Highland, Kans. Six grandchildren and eight greatgrandchildren also survive."

Ancestry.com offers: "Campbell Name Meaning - Scottish: nickname from Gaelic cam 'crooked', 'bent' + beul 'mouth'. The surname was often represented in Latin documents as de bello campo 'of the fair field', which led to the name sometimes being 'translated' into Anglo-Norman French as Beauchamp. In New England documents, Campbell sometimes occurs as a representation of the French name Hamel."

[46114] "Biographical review : containing life sketches of leading citizens of Somerset, Piscataquis, Hancock, Washington, and Aroostook counties, Maine (1898)", p.480: "George W. Perkins, a prosperous farmer of Castine, Hancock County, was born in this town, February 23, 1833, son of Mark H. and Lois (Bowden) Perkins, both of whom were natives of Castine. His grandfather, Stover Perkins, was one of the early merchants and ship-builders of the town. Residing about two miles north of the village, Grandfather Perkins became quite an old man. The maiden name of his wife was Annie Hatch. Mark H. Perkins, the father, settled upon wild land in the northern part of the town. He was engaged in farming and lumbering during his active years, and died at the age of eighty-four. His wife became the mother of four children, two of whom are living, namely: George W., the subject of this sketch; and Louisa, who married Mark E. Hatch, of Castine, and has three children - William, Luella, and Lettie. The others were: Mark, a sea captain, who married Ellen Hatch, and left one son, Harry F. Perkins, now of Bangor; and John, who was lost at sea in his twenty-third year, while on a voyage with his brother. George W. Perkins was educated in the common schools. After the completion of his studies he went to sea for a time. The greater part of his active period, however, has been devoted to farming and trading. Since the death of his father he has occupied the homestead, which is a well-known landmark on account of its having been the site of the Methodist camp-meeting ground for many years. His farming has been very successful. In politics he is a Republican, and he cast his first Presidential vote for John C. Fremont in 1856. He was school agent for a time, and he served in the capacity of Selectman for fourteen years, after which he declined further nomination. Mr. Perkins first married Clarissa A. Morgrage, who bore him two sons - John W. and Edward D. A second marriage united him with Mary E. Lawrence, who has one daughter, Lois M. John W. Perkins, who was not married, and resided at home, died recently at the age of thirty-six years. Edward D. Perkins, after teaching in Maine for some time and serving as the principal of a large school in Washington, D.C., graduated with honors from the Georgetown Medical School, and since 1894 has practised medicine at the national capital. Lois M. Perkins, who was a school teacher for several years, married Harry S. Soper, of Bucksport, Me."

Wendell was born on March 26, 1938, to Phyllis (Grant) Small and Douglas R. Small Sr. Wendell was proud to tell you he had served in the United States Coast Guard and learned to love the water. Wendell returned to Lubec, where he would meet the mother of his beloved son, Wendell Troy. He moved his family to Connecticut, where he was employed with Hartford Hospital. Upon his return to Lubec, Wendell became the owner/operator of a well known bayview bakery, known for the best bread, doughnuts, and baked beans around. Wendell soon returned to the water through diving and commercial fishing. Wendell was known locally as quite an outdoorsman whether it be in the woods with his good friend of 20 years, Jack Bragg or on the water fishing. Wendell had a deep love for music and dancing where he met his partner, Jean Mathews, they could be found weekly spinning around a dance floor. Wendell will be remembered by all that had the honor to know him as a tall, kind, compassionate man. Wendell is survived by his only son, Wendell Troy Small of Utah; three grandsons, Michael, Aaron, and Spencer Small; sisters, Lynne Hatch and Linda Maker; his partner and beloved caregiver, Jean Mathews, who gave Wendell the grace of staying home; his dear friends, Chouan and Dixon, Jack and Lucille Bragg; neighbor, Roger and Linda; and many nephews, nieces, and cousins that loved him dearly.
