[44429] The unverified file at https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Garey-129 in 2018 reports: "Son of Joseph Garey and Susannah (Nowell) Garey . . . Husband of Susannah (Allen) Garey - married 20 Nov 1797 in Alfred, Maine. Father of Patience Lewis (Garey) Thompson, Margaret (Garey) Deshon, Timothy Garey, Jane H. Garey and Lucy N. Garey." and also offers: "Ebenezer was active in the church and he and Jeremiah Moulton played the bass-viol while the mens choir sang. Rose Garey was the first woman to sing in the choir in the old Congregational meeting house. Ebenezer was the coroner for Sanford from 1828 to 1831. Ebenezer is listed in the 1840 census as living in Barrington, NH but had returned to Alfred by the time of the 1850 census. Betsey Deshon and her brother Ben were living with their grandparents and uncle Tim in July of 1850 and returned to Wakefield by the time the census was taken there in Sept. Ebenezer had died by the time of the 1860 census and Susannah lived just long enough to be listed as living with her son Timothy and his family at their home in Alfred. On Ebenezers headstone and that of his son Timothy, he is referred to as Gen. Ebenezer Garey. He is listed as being a first lieutenant in the Sanford militia from 1815 until 1821, however, I cannot find where he ever achieved the rank of General. He was also listed as being a Deputy Sheriff in 1827-8. I wonder if he may have been involved in another organization (the Salvation Army comes to mind) where he was given this title. As noted above he was listed as Col. Ebenr Garey in the 1820 census. Ebenezer was also listed as being the local coroner from 1828 until 1831.The children of Ebenezer have been proved in a round about way. Patiences parentage was given on her death certificate. For the discussion about Margaret see Stephen DESHON. Timothys date of birth and parentage is given on his headstone. Jane H. was living with her parents at the time of the 1850 census. Lucy was living with her parents at the time of the 1850 census and then lived with her brother Timothy."

[32360] Ancestry.com offers: "Price Name Meaning - Welsh: Anglicized form of Welsh ap Rhys 'son of Rhys' (see Reece). This is one of the commonest of Welsh surnames. It has also been established in Ireland since the 14th century, where it is sometimes a variant of Bryson. English: the name is also found very early in parts of England far removed from Welsh influence (e.g. Richard Prys, Essex 1320), and in such cases presumably derives from Middle English, Old French pris 'price', 'prize', perhaps as a metonymic occupational name for a fixer of prices."
