Samuel was the son of Thomas Thomason and Genia Reeves. His siblings were George Thomason (1703-1783), and Thomas Thomason, Jr. (d. ca 1773). Samuel moved to Fredericksville Parish, Louisa County, Virginia, as his brother George had.
Samuel owned 400 acres of land between Christopher's Run and Duckinghole Creek in Louisa County. His will is on file in Louisa County. His first wife was Hannah Glass. There were 12 possible children. Samuel is thought to have been buried near Providence, Virginia, however his grave has not been located."
