He was born in Charleston, Maine on July 7, 1943 a son of the late Wendell B. and Leone I. (Lawry) Clement. He was a resident of Auburn for the past 25 years, formerly living in Maine. He was a graduate of high school in East Corinth, Maine. Mr. Clement had been employed for several construction companies over the years, most recently for Lewis Builders. He was a member of the Granite State Balloon Assoc. and had crewed for the balloon 'Nasty Habits'. He was an avid fisherman. He is survived by his wife, Patricia J. (Foster) Clement of Auburn, two daughters, Theresa Clement of Mobile, AL, Tammy Roper of Austin, Texas, three stepdaughters, Diane Reynolds of Bristol, NH, Donna Racicot of Windham, NH, Deborah McGuire of Boscawen, NH, one stepson, David Reynolds of Sandown, NH, and 18 grandchildren."

Find A Grave memorial 29794761 lists his children and offers: "Son of Joseph Hutchins, Jr. b 1741 and Anna ___ of Kittery. Solomon was a Patriot in Revolutionary War. Solomon m. Hannah Lewis b. 1767. Solomon and Hannah raised their family on a farm located on the east end of Lovell Lake, Sanbornville, NH. They had 15 Children. Solomon Hutchins (Joseph, Samuel) born May 10, 1760, Kittery; died 3 Aug 1846 Wakefield, NH; m.5 Aug 1784, York, Hannah Lewis b. 7 Dec 1767; d 9 Sept 1838. Lived on a farm in Wakefield and buried in farm cemetery across road from their home.
Solomon enlisted Kittery and went to Cambridge while the British were occupying Boston, served two months. Re-enlisted for 12 mo in MA Service at Fort Sullivan. Oct 1777, entered on board (at Portsmouth, NH) the US Sloop of war 'Ranger', Capt. John Paul Jones, commanding, Thomas Simpson 1st Lt., Mr. Hall 2nd Lt., Mr. Sullivan, sailing master. He served as a Marine under Lt. Wallingford, sailed for Brest, France, was in action when the British ship 'Drake' was captured by the 'Ranger'. Lt. Wallngford was shot through the head by a musket all and killed. Solomon returned to Portsmouth NH and was discharged in Oct. On 27 Oct 1779 he again entered on the 'Ranger', Capt Thompson Simpson, commanding. Solomon was appointed Coxswain, took nine 'sail' of the Jamacan fleet, he was put on one prize which was retaken by the British and he was then taken to Halifax as a prisoner until the cartel arrived from Boston and he was redeemed. He returned to Portsmouth where the 'Ranger' was lying, went on board and sailed for Charleston, SC in the 'Ranger' with the 'Providence' and 'Queen of France'. At Charleston the 'Ranger' was blockaded and captured. Subsequently the officers, including Solomon Hutchins, and men of the 'Ranger' somehow escaped from the British and, under their own officers, traveled overland until, after many tribulations, they finally arrived back in Portsmouth.
