[51351] "The Bangor Daily News [Bangor, Maine]," 24 August 1976, p. 22: "Winter Harbor - Mrs. Beulah Rollins died Aug. 22 in Charleston, S.C. at the home of her daughter with whom she had resided for several years. She was born in Gouldsboro Aug. 14, 1897, daughter of Henry and Mary Frances (Bunker) Bunker. She attended local schools and was graduated from Bar Harbor High School and Farmington Normal School, later receiving A.B. and M.A. degrees from the University of Maine. She had been a teacher for 35 years in various school systems including Gouldsboro, Winter Harbor, Sorrento and Ellsworth, and had conducted private classes in piano and needlework. Mrs Rollins was a past noble grand of Surfside Rebekah Lodge and had served as district deputy. She was a past worthy matron of Rubie Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, and was the first president and a charter member of the Winter Harbor Women's Club. She had been a member of several educational organizations including the Ellsworth Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma and for a number of years was choir director and organist at the Winter Harbor Baptist Church. For many years she had served on the Winter Harbor Republican Committee, the board of trustees for the Winter Harbor Public Library and for several terms on the school committee. Mrs. Rollins held an avid interest in the needle arts and crafts and was recognized for her proficiency in this field. In recent years she had attended the Unitarian Church in Ellsworth and was a member of the Women's Alliance. In 1921 she married George C. Blance who died in 1957. She later married Andrew Howard Rollins of Ellsworth, who died in 1973. She is survived by three children, Mrs. Emuel E. (Elinor) Vassey, Jr. of Charleston, S.C., Mrs. Wendell A. (Charlene) Ray of Waterville, George C. Blance, Jr. of Burlington, Mass.; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Elton Black of Ellsworth; six grandchildren; two step grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; several cousins. Funeral services will be held at the Winter Harbor Baptist Church Wednesday at 2 p.m. Interment will take place in the Greenwood Cemetery, Winter Harbor."
