Born November 21, 1904, in Tiro to Hulbertus B. and Bertha (McManis) Wharton, she had been a Shelby resident since 1926. Mrs. Cooper was employed with Shelby Public Schools as a cook for 16 years, retiring in 1974. She was a member of First United Church of Christ where she was active in Women's Guild and a volunteer at Fairhaven Community in Upper Sandusky for many years. She enjoyed her church and needlework. Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Corliss H. Jr. and Patsy Cooper and Daniel B. and Tina Cooper, all of Shelby, Richard W. & Marge Cooper of Kailua Kona, Hawaii; one daughter and son-in-law, Donna Jean and Francis Burk of Kerrville, TX; 17 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; one brother, William 'Bill' Wharton of Shelby; one sister, Esther Stover of Shelby; nieces, nephews and other relatives.
