She was a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star, the Carlisle Garden Club and the Mary Dickinson Club. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. She was a daughter of the late Dr. Joseph C. and Ella Peffer Davis, Carlisle. She was a 1908 graduate of Carlisle High School. Surviving, in addition to her husband, to whom she had been married for 61 years, are a son, J. Frank Briner Jr., Kingston, N.C; a daughter, Mrs. Donald W. NOTE: There is an alphabetical list of the markers in the two oldest cemeteries in Lancaster,MA, The Old Settlers and Old Common Rd. Neither Josiah nor Abigail are listed, and I was unable to find them in Nourse. It doesnt mean that they are not buried in one of those cemeteries but only that there is no indication or marker. The memorials were placed here at the suggestion of another contributor, but I am not at all sure of their burials here."
