[16353] David m. Mary Grant and had Michael, Jesse, David G., George, Mary and Margaret. In 1765 he moved to a mill in the valley of the Little Swatara Creek about 20 miles north of Shaefferstown - tradition reports that he had a grist mill in Berks Co. while Washington was at Valley Forge and that he supplied the American army with flour, was paid with Continental currency and went bankrupt. Find A Grave memorial 47249821 offers: "He was a miller by trade and followed his business for several years near Schaefferstown. He then moved to to the Swatara Valley above the Blue mountains in Berks County, about 20 miles north of Schaefferstown. Here he met a neighbor's daughter Mary Grant and they became married. His immediate area there became part of Pinegrove when it was organized in 1771. His name was written Brecht until 1783. In 1784 he moved to Greenbriar county, Va. where he did some farming until his death. SAR Patriot Burial records list his burial as Charles Evans so he may have returned from Virginia before his death. His will was written at Greenbriar County. His father Michael Bright, the elder, emigrated from the Palatinate, Germany, in 1726, arriving here at the age of 20 and settling near Schaefferstown. At that time there were but three counties in the Province of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, Bucks and Chester. Schaefferstown was in Chester county when the elder Michael Bright(then written as Brecht) arrived, and was one of the oldest towns in the state. In 1729 Lancaster was established, and Schaefferstown was included with that county and later became Lebanon county."

Geoffrey was Treasurer of King Henry II and built Kenilworth.
"Généalogie de Carné" at http://a.decarne.free.fr/gencar/dat399.htm states that "Guillaume chambellan héréditaire de Normandie" (b. after 1128, d. 1193 in Palestine) is son of Renebault de Tankerville and Agnes Stigand and that he m. ca 1140 Théophanie de Penthièvre (b. ca. 1115 to Étienne de Penthièvre, comte de Tréguier, and Havoise, comtesse de Guingamp) - this appears to be a brother of Geoffrey, who is not listed in "Généalogie de Carné".
http://www.tudorplace.com.ar/CLINTON.htm offers: "The family of Clinton is of Norman origin, and settled in England at the Conquest. They took their name from the lordship of Climpton, in Oxfordshire. Roger Climpton or Clinton was Bishop of Coventry from 1228 to 1249. John De Clinton was summoned to Parliament at the first of Edward I, by the title of Baron Clinton of Marstock. His second son, William, was Lord High Admiral of England in 1333, and created Earl of Huntingdon in 1337. The 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th Lords of Clinton distinguished themselves in the wars of Edward III and Henry V and VI. Edward, the ninth Lord Clinton, Lord High Admiral of England, was created Earl of Lincoln in 1572. His successor, Henry, second Earl of Lincoln, was one of the commissioners on the trial of Mary, Queen of Scots."
See "Sirnet Genealogy" for its proposal concerning the ancestry of Geoffrey at http://www.stirnet.com/HTML/genie/british/cc4aq/clinton01.htm. Cf. http://www.boazfamilytree.com for agreement with this proposal. Also see http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geoffroy_de_Clinton.
http://www.nottshistory.org.uk/Brown1896/clumber.htm offers: "Geoffrey de Clinton, with whom Dugdale commences his history of the family, was Lord Chamberlain and Treasurer to Henry I., and afterwards Justice of England. Foss, in his Judges, says he was a witness to the Kings charter to Westminster Abbey. He built the castle of Kenilworth, and gave all the lands he had there, except those attached to the castle and park, to endow the priory of Augustinian monks which he had founded. His possessions extended through no less than fourteen counties."
