[49150] "The Bangor Daily News [Bangor, Maine]," 2 November 1962, pp. 1-2: "Beddington - A Bangor dentist, Dr. Charles Selden Silsby, 59, died of a heart attack while hunting in a remote section of Hancock County near here Thursday. Hancock County Sheriff Merritt Fitch said Dr. Silsby was hunting in Township 34 with Philip Provost of 98 Crestmont Street, Bangor. Provost told authorities Dr. Silsby fired at a deer about 2:30 pm. Shortly afterward he said he was not feeling well and the two men walked to their car. Dr. Silsby sat down in the car and minutes later sighed and fell over on the seat. The time of death was estimated at 3 p.m. Provost telephoned authorities from the Airline Lunch on Route 9 after driving about 15 miles on the so-called C.C.C. Road. Investigating at the scene were Fitch, Deputy Peter Larson of Aurora and County Attorney Kenneth Blaisdell. The body was examined at Brewer by Dr. John Sullivan, a medical examiner. Dr. Silsby was born in Aurora April 11, 1903, the son of Herbert and Margaret (Schoppee) Silsby. He was graduated from McGill University, Montreal, in 1926. He attended Hammond Street Congregational Church in Bangor and was a member of Lygonia Lodge of Masons, Acadia Chapter, Bienguefort Commandery and Anah Temple, Order of the Mystic Shrine. He was also a member of the Penobscot Dental Association and the American Dental Association. Dr. Silsby practiced dentistry in Bangor for 38 years. His home address was 5 Dunning Boulevard and his office was at 5 Broad Street. He is survived by his widow, the former Elizabeth Stover; a son, Charles Silsby, Jr. of Bangor; a daughter, Mrs. Earl McGraw, Jr. of Ellsworth; a brother, Superior Court Justice, William Silsby, Sr. of Ellsworth; and three sisters, Mrs. Francis Budge of Bangor, Mrs. Mary Burrill of Cincinnati, and Miss Alice Silsby of Aurora."
