[33829] Unverified note from the internet: "Robert Boden was a native of Perry County, and received his education in its common schools. From the end of his school days until the close of his life, he was occupied in farming; he owned and cultivated 225 acres of land near Ickesburg, Pa. He possessed in addition about 100 acres of woodland. Mr. Boden was not only prominent for his agricultural operations, but also conducted an extensive stock farm. Being an expert in the management of horses, he also drove a stage for a number of years. He was for some time a mail carrier of Perry County. In earlier life a Whig, Mr. Boden afterwards became a Republican, and was a candidate on the ticket of that party for the State legislature, but was defeated. Robert Boden was married in New Bloomfield, Perry County, to Susanna, daughter of John Rice, a native of McAlisterville, Pa. Her father is a brother of Jesse Rice, of the Tuscarora valley. Following are children of this union: John K., steward of the almshouse of Perry County; Jane (Mrs. Jacob Shuman), of Huntingdon County, deceased; Margaret, widow of Sampson W. King, of Duncannon, Pa.; Stiles K.; Scott, deceased; Robert, a farmer of Ickesburg, Perry County; William; Henry, on the homestead near Ickesburg; Charles, deceased; and Mary (Mrs. John Snyder), of Ickesburg. Robert Boden was a member of the Lutheran Church at Buffalo, Perry County. He died in 1864."

Probably descended from two brothers, Simon and Peter Minnich, arrived at Phila., PA in 1737, as detailed in "Counting Kindred," E.E. Deppen and M.L. Deppen (1940). These brothers are claimed to descend from Baron Muench, a former Roman Catholic, who for his Calvinist faith paid the ultimate penalty. His family fled to various border lands of France for temporary refuge. Peter, ages 39, and Simon, aged 37 in 1737, were botn in the Palatinate of Huguenot stock. They settled in the Tuplehocken Valley (then Lancaster County, PA). Peter drifted northward into Pine Grove Township (now Schuylkill County, PA), where a large posterity live to carry the name of the pioneer whose family suffered Indian massacres and other hardships. The family here write the name "Minnig." The brother, Simon, resided in Upper Tulpehocken Township and married Catharine _ump [first letter of surname obliterated in book]; Catharine's grave is the oldest in Little Tulpehocken Church cemetery. Simon and Catharine had Christopher Minnich (1737-1806) who m. in 1757 Barbara Heider and had Benjamin Minnich (1776-1832; m. Susan Schoepfler, 1775-1838). Benjamin and Susan had Christiana Minnich (1799-1873) who married Jacob Potteiger (or Pfatteicher or Botteiger) and had Anna Potteiger who m. Levi Gring. Christopher (1737-1806) was sergeant in Capt. Ferd. Ritter's Co., under Col. Jos. Heister, 6th Battalion, per 3rd Series, Vol. 6, PA Archives. {This information is from Anita Batz via Internet, 3/98, and is not verified.)
