[3362] Richard was Earl of Arundel, Earl of Sussex, Lord of Clun and Oswestry, Salop. The earldom of Arundel was recreated, probably in 1289, though by some Richard is held to be the 8th earl. Richard fought for Edward I in Wales, France and Scotland. See G.E. Cokayne; with Vicary Gibbs, H.A. Doubleday, Geoffrey H. White, Duncan Warrand and Lord Howard de Walden, editors, "The Complete Peerage of England, Scotland, Ireland, Great Britain and the United Kingdom, Extant, Extinct or Dormant, new ed.," (1910-1959; reprint in 6 volumes, Gloucester, U.K.: Alan Sutton Publishing, 2000), volume I, page 240. http://www.medievalgenealogy.org.uk/cp/arundel.shtml#p244b reports "The bodies of both Richard and Alesia were at Haughmond Abbey, Shropshire, by 1341, when provision was made for 12 candles to burn in the church of Haughmond around their tombs [Una Rees, ed., 'The Cartulary of Haughmond Abbey,' p.227 (1985)]." http://www.thepeerage.com reports "He fought in the Scottish wars between 1298 and 1300. He fought in the siege of Carlaverock in 1300." Cf. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_Fitzalan,_8th_Earl_of_Arundel.

Ancestry.com offers: "Litchfield Name Meaning - habitational name from Lichfield in Staffordshire. The first element preserves a British name recorded as Letocetum during the Romano-British period. This means gray wood, from words which are the ancestors of Welsh llwyd gray and coed wood. By the Old English period this had been reduced to Licced, and the element feld pasture, open country was added to describe a patch of cleared land within the ancient wood. habitational name from Litchfield in Hampshire, recorded in Domesday Book as Liveselle. This is probably from an Old English hlif shelter + Old English scylf shelf, ledge. The subsequent transformation of the place name may be the result of folk etymological association with Old English hlið, hlid slope + feld open country."
