[31593] "Genealogical and Family History of the State of Maine," George Thomas Little, Henry Sweetser Burrage, and Albert Roscoe Stubbs (Lewis Historical Publishing Company, 1909) offers: "Amos [Davis], fourth son of Samuel (2) and Hannah Davis, was born October 15, 1705, in Groton, and was a small child when his parents removed to Chelmsford [Massachusetts]. He lived successively in Littleton, Uxbridge, again in Littleton, Petersham and Harvard, Massachusetts. He was one of the grantees of Westmoreland, New Hampshire, and removed to that town, very soon after 1750. He and his wife were among the foundation members of the church there, where he died soon after 1770." A DAR Lineage Book states "Amos Davis (1732-94) served as a private in Capt. Oliver Cobleigh's company, Colonel Ashley's regiment from Chesterfield, and marched to the relief of the garrison at Ticonderoga, 1777. He was born in Westmoreland; died in Chesterfield, N. H."
