John was born in South Bend, Indiana to Isabel Murphy and Ralph Myers. John grew up and went to high school in Elkhart, Indiana. John joined the Air Force In the early fifties and served at Kirtland Air Force base during the Korean War. John returned to Albuquerque soon after his military service to escape the cold Indiana winters. John was preceded in death by his sisters, Ann Fuller, Mary Cook and Beth Martin. John is survived by his wife, JoAnn and sisters, Martha Scantlen and Ruth Pabreza, sons, David B, John Jordan, Danny (Terri), and David A. (Christine), daughters, Leslie Marini, Jennifer Connor (Terrence) and Jayme RyAnn, grandchildren Sean, Tanner and Taryn; and many nieces and nephews."
