He was born July 29, 1947 in Jacksonville, FL to the late Lewis & Bettye (Shields) Knezevich. Michael was a member of Duval Station Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and will be dearly missed by all. Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Lawanna; son, Christopher Alex Alexander of Jacksonville; brothers, Pat Knezevich (Carrie) of Tampa, Billy Shields (Jan) of Moultrie, GA; sisters, Beverly Grimes (Jerry) of Powder, GA, Terri Dyess (Keith), Lisa Wagner (Ed), Kim Willie (Bobby) all of Jacksonville; grandchildren, Christopher, Cailee, Caleb, Gabriel; a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 1 (TODAY) at 11:30AM at Duval Station Baptist Church, 13734 Lyle Road, Jacksonville, with Rev. Steve McCoy and Rev. Jimmy Flanagan officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in Jacksonville National Cemetery." He served as a Corporal in the U. S. Marines during the Vietnam War.

When Eric arrived in Vietnam he was assigned to Alpha Company, 3rd Engineer Battalion, 3rd Marine Division. Eric died as a result of multiple fragmentation wounds to the back and left side from hostile artillery fire while on a company patrol, 2 kilometers south southwest of Con Thien (Hill 158). The Marines lost a total of 6 men. Tour of duty unknown.
