Weber, age 88, of Mechanicsburg, passed away Thursday, April 24, 2008 at Harrisburg Hospital. Born January 15, 1920 in Mechanicsburg, he was a son of the late Henry C. and Jessie B. Garman Weber. Along with his wife he owned and operated Weber's Hardware Store in Mechanicsburg for over 49 years. He was member a of Mechanicsburg Presbyterian Church where he served as an Elder, Trustee, Sunday School Superintendant and was a past president of the Board of Trustees; past president and 53 year member of Mechanicsburg Rotary Club where he was a Paul Harris Fellow and Benefactor; board member of the Mechanicsburg Foundation; board member and honorary co-chairperson of the current Capital Campaign for the Mechanicsburg Wildcat Foundation; honorary co-chairperson of the Save the Pool Campaign for the Mechanicsburg Swimming Pool; director of Mechanicsburg Cemetery Association; member of the Mechanicsburg Museum Association and did the chinking when Frankenberger Tavern was restored; volunteer with Mechanicsburg Meals on Wheels; past president of the Mechanicsburg Chamber of Commerce; served as a director of the former First Bank and Trust of Mechanicsburg; member Citizens Fire Company and American Legion Post 109. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II, having served in the Battle of the Bulge with the 440th Service Battery and was a life member of the 7th Armored Division. Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Phyllis I (Wilson) Weber; two sons, Gary B. Weber and his wife, Lorrie of Mechanicsburg, and Dr. Steven T. Weber and his wife, Cathy of Amarillo, TX; five grandchildren, Adam, Amy, Erin, Emily and Elanna Weber; and a brother, Vance Weber of Mechanicsburg. His brothers, Robert B. Weber VMD and Richard H. Weber, preceded him in death."
