[55923] The unverified file GVM5-9WS in familysearch.org offers: "When Ethel Arline Bradley was born on 10 March 1920, in Searsport, Waldo, Maine, United States, her father, Alphonzo Ralph Bradley, was 26 and her mother, Fannie Ethel Nickerson, was 22. She married Leroy A Moody on 11 March 1951, in Maine, United States. She lived in United States in 1949. She died on 23 March 2017, at the age of 97, and was buried in Mount Hope Cemetery, Searsport, Waldo, Maine, United States." "The Bangor Daily News [Bangor, Maine]," 25 March 2017: "Bar Harbor - Ethel Moody died March 23, 2017, in Bar Harbor. She was born on March 10, 1920, to Fannie Nickerson Bradley and Ralph Bradley in Searsport. Ethel attended Searsport schools and received a teaching credential from Farmington Normal School in 1938. She began her teaching career in a one-room school in Searsport and taught there for several years. During World War II, she worked as a payroll officer at the Hyde Windlass Company, which became Bath Iron Works. Ethel married LeRoy A. Moody in 1951 and their daughter, Paula, was born the next year. In the early years, the family moved a fair bit due to Roy's work as a pipefitter/steamfitter and Business Agent for United Association, Local 321. Eventually they settled in Hampden and Ethel resumed her education, graduating from the University of Maine at Orono, in 1964. She returned to teaching and worked in the Brewer public schools until 1970 when Ethel and Roy moved back to their hometown. Ethel then taught third and fourth grades at the Searsport Elementary School until 1984. She was active in the Waldo County Retired Teachers' Association after her retirement. Ethel was very close to her sisters: Lucille Paul, Patricia Knox, Ruth Taylor, and Marguerite Moody and throughout their lives they were referred to as "the Bradley girls". Her extended family became the centerpiece of her life and she was happiest at gatherings that included a great many relatives. Ethel moved to Bar Harbor in 2012 to be closer to her daughter and her husband, Sam Dunlap. She is survived by her daughter and son-in law; her sister, Marguerite Moody; several nephews and two special nieces, Nancy Schroeder and Andrea Paul. Ethel's family wishes to extend gratitude to the many people who offered her care and attention at Sonogee Living and Rehab Center."
