He stood 5' 4" tall and had light hair and gray eyes. A Civil War veteran, he enlisted and mustered into federal service at Carlisle March 21, 1865, as a private with Co. K, 149th Pennsylvania Infantry, and honorably discharged with his company June 24, 1865."

Trimble, aged 87 years, 4 months and 7 days, died Monday night at 10:30 o'clock at the home of his daughter, Mrs. W. F. Brook in Springfield township, one mile west of Ontario, death having been caused by dropsy. Mr. Trimble was born and reared in Springfield township. In 1847, he was united in marriage with Miss Lucinda Murphy, whose death occurred ten years ago. Nine children were born to them, of whom four survive, they being D. F. Trimble, of Calouse, Wash.; W. L. Trimble, of near Ontario; Dr. C. E. Trimble, of Crestline, and Mrs. W. F. Brook."
