"Shamokin News-Dispatch [Shamokin, PA], 25 February 1963," p. 3: "David Troutman, 87, former resident of the Rebuck area and father of Willard Troutman, Trevorton, died in the home of a son, Harvey A. Troutman, Herndon R. D., with whom he had been living since last September. Mr. Troutman was born July 1, 1875, in Hebe, Jordan Township. He was a retired farmer, having relinquished active farming about 10 years ago. His wife, the former May Agnes Geist, died in July, 1961. Mr. Troutman was a lifelong member of Himmel's United Church of Christ, Rebuck. He was the last member of his immediate family. Surviving are the following children: Harvey A. Troutman, Herndon R.D.; Willard Troutman, Trevorton; Jesse Troutman, Dornsife, and Paul Troutman, Rebuck. Six grandchildren and seven greatgrandchildren survive, also."
See "Trautman/Troutman Family," Eric H. Troutman (Bernville, PA: 1999). The federal census 11 April 1930 of Upper Mahanoy Twp., Northumberland Co., PA lists David and his family, and indicates he is a farmer. Ancestry.com states Troutman is a version of Trautmann and offers: "Trautmann Name Meaning - German: from a medieval personal name, formed with Middle High German trut 'beloved' + man 'man', or from an older stem, Germanic thrud 'strength' (Old Norse thrudr 'divine being'), from which several personal names were formed."
