"The Ellsworth American [Ellsworth, Maine], 14 February 2008": "Hollis B. 'Hoddy' Grindle, 80, passed on to eternal life Feb. 6, 2008, at his residence. He was born Aug. 16, 1927, in Somesville, the son of Chester and Irene (Miles) Grindle. Hoddy worked as a caretaker on estates in Brookline, Mass., and Stamford, Conn. He had wonderful rose and vegetable gardens, and was a talented landscaper. He enjoyed a good story and had a great sense of humor. Hoddy was proud of being a Marine and shared numerous stories of his time in the service. He spent many happy days deer hunting with his friends on Long Island in Blue Hill Bay. Hoddy loved wood working and spent a lot of time in his shop in later years, when he retired to Maine. He enjoyed making an elaborate breakfast concoction every morning and was always dismayed that no one else would even try it. He will be greatly missed by three children he leaves behind, son, Hollis G. Dow of Otis; his daughter, Pamela Holden and husband, Andy, of Charlottesville, Va.; and his youngest son and his companion, William H. 'Bill' Grindle - a devoted and daily caregiver and Teresa Davis of Otis; brothers, Austin of Murphy, N.C., Miles of Eddington; a grandson; a great-grandson; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 45 years, Patricia (Harris) Grindle."
Where does this person fit in to the family? - obituary in "The Ellsworth American, 18 Apri 2016": "Gilbert R. Grindle, 74, of Surry, lost his battle with cancer on April 12, 2016. He was the son of the late Hollis (Hottie) Grindle and Murtle Grindle. He leaves behind his sweetie Patricia Thompson; Patricias girls Lucinda Griffin of Zephyrhills, Fla., and Effie Kane Obin of Palm Harbor, Fla. Gilbert loved to fish and play cards with his brothers Phillip and Gerald Grindle of Waltham along with all his buddies. He leaves behind his sister Geraldine and brother-in-law Jack Vanovenhue of Rockland, Conn.; brother Gerald Grindle and his wife Nicole of Waltham; sister Phillis Grindle Kane and husband Jasper Kane of Ellsworth. He was predeceased by his brothers Donald, Raymond, Tommy, Dickie, his sister Pauline Grindle, along with several nieces and nephews."
And this brother - obituary in "The Ellsworth American, 25 Aprl 2016": " Phillip S. Grindle, 68, of Waltham, lost his courageous battle with cancer on April 20, at Blue Hill Memorial Hospital. He was born June 6, 1947, and has joined his parents Hollis and Myrtle Grindle along with his brother Gilbert, whom he spent his last days with. Phil loved the Red Sox, going to Bog River Camp, the outdoors, playing horseshoes, his doggie day care, and his door was always open for a game of cribbage with his family and friends. He is survived by his twin sister Phyllis and husband, Jasper Kane, his brother Gerald and wife, Nicole Grindle, his sister Geraldine and husband, Jack Vanovenhue, and many other special family members. Phil was predeceased by five brothers and one sister."
