[49246] Virgil is listed as a son of Frederick and Emma in Find A Grave memorial 35826740. "The Bangor Daily News [Bangor, Maine]," 7 July 1937, p. 33: "Castine, July 6 - Virgil Wardwell, 54, died last night in the Castine Community hospital, when he failed to rally after surgical treatment. He was one of a family of 13, and his death was the first one of the family. Mr. Wardwell, equally known in both Castine and Penobscot, was valued as a citizen, popular alike with summer residents and with those who make their permanent homes in the two towns. Born in Penobscot, for many years he has made his home in North Castine. He was a good workman. His wife, Mrs. Rose Wardwell, survives, as do five sons and one daughter - Virgil P. Wardwell, Jr. Clarence Wardwell, George Wardwell, Elmer Wardwell, Philip Wardwell, and Miss Mildred Wardwell. Five sisters and seven brother also survive: Mrs. Laura Dunbar and Mrs. Leila Leach of Penobscot; Mrs. Bert Bowden, Stockton Springs; Mrs. James Hatch, Castine. Mrs. Arthur Preble, South Weymouth, Mass., and Charles, Ray, Percy, Frank, Ralph, Augustus and Harry Wardwell, all of whom live either in Castine or Penobsot."
