[44154] "King City Democrat [King City, MO], 1 November 1912," p. 8: "John Vermillion Andrews was born in Schenectaday, New York, May 17, 1818, died in King City, Mo., October 27, 1912. He had thus lived more than ninety-four years. On the 27th of February, 1843, he was united in marriage with Aurilla Saxton who was his faithful and loving companion for sixty-seven years. Eight children blessed their home, five of whom are yet living. The surviving children are, F. M. Andrews, St. Joseph, Mo., Mrs. J. J. Nelson, Amhurst, Wisconsin, Mrs. E. E. Gordon, Carthage, Mo., Mrs. C. G. Seamans, Savannah, Mo., and Mrs. W. E. Agee, of King Citv, at whose home kind hands ministered to the father during his illness and did all for him that love could do. In the year 1867 he moved wifh his family to Andrew county, Missouri where he lived a respected and honored citizen until a few weeks ago, when he moved to King City. About forty years ago Brother Andrews obeyed tho gospel of Jesus Christ and united with the Christian church at Whitesville and for many years was an elder of that church. He was a faithful member of this congregation when the end came. He lived a quiet and useful life. He was cheerful, hopeful and contented, even when the infirmaties of age confined him to his room. Aside from the sadness of parting, shall we not be glad because the aged pilgrim has reached home? Death has no sting and the grave no fears for such as he. For we believe he could truly say, 'I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith, henceforth there, is laid up for me crown of righteousness.'"
