[7410] Marilyn's obituary: "Marilyn Kay (Briner) Schreffler, age 58, of Mechanicsburg, peacefully entered into eternal life while at home on Tuesday, November 24, 2015. Marilyn was born on Thursday, February 7, 1957, in Harrisburg, to Joyce Adora (Shunk) Briner and the late Miles Gifford Briner. Marilyns survivors include her devoted husband of 36 years, Darryl Jay Schreffler; her daughter, Amanda Day Peed and her husband, Joshua Adam, and their son, Malachi Adam; her son, Adam David Schreffler and his wife, Mallory, and their daughter, Aurora Mae; her mother, Joyce Adora (Shunk) Briner; her four siblings, Gifford Briner, Jane A. (Briner) Price, John Briner, Robert Briner; and several nieces and nephews. Marilyn served the Lord faithfully since the age of twelve. She graduated from Cumberland Valley High School as part of the class of 1975, and from Central Pennsylvania Business School in 1977 with a degree in computer programming. To Marilyn, being a homemaker was the greatest career imaginable, and she was a proud wife and mother. Her family remembers her as being a creative cook and baker and that she loved to make the most delicious Christmas cookies in many varieties. Darryl lovingly describes his wife as an extremely logical thinker and as being even more so than himself. With a competitive spirit and her logical thinking, Marilyn enjoyed playing all types of games with family and friends. A generous person, she gave gifts to others at every opportunity. Her spirit of love and generosity made Marilyn a fantastic listener and confidant who was always willing to share her wisdom. She will be forever loved and deeply missed."

If Elizabeth Lovell, she is dau. of Thomas Lovell who d. 2 Jan 1710 and r. Ipswich, Mass., and his wife Ann - Thomas was a currier from Dublin, Ireland, b. 1620, settled at Salem, Mass. in 1639. If Elizabeth Whipple, she is dau. of Matthew Whipple, b. ca. 1590 at Bocking, England, d. 28 Sept 1647 at Ipswich, Mass., m. (1) 7 May 1622 at Bocking to Ann Hawkins (d.ca.1643; dau. of John Hawkins who was buried in 1619 and who is son of John Hawkins of Braintree); Matthew is son of Matthew Whipple, b.ca.1560, buried 16 Jan 1619 at St. Mary Church, Bocking, a clothier, and his wife Joan (buried 19 May 1612). The Whipple ancestry appears to be proven per primary Perkins family researcher Paula Mortensen (11/90, Prodigy). The only mention of an Elizabeth Perkins in Lovell context is in the will of Thomas Lovell where Elizabeth Perkins is referred to as a daughter. After Elizabeth's death, Jacob Perkins m. (2) about 1687 Damaris, widow of Nathanial Robinson (she d. in 1716 at age 80).
A Hawkins' family is identified by "Abstracts of English Records." See the History of Bocking in the Rawlinson MSS, Essex 5, p. 32, at the Bodleian Library (Oxford) for the statement that John Hawkins, oldest son and heir of John Hawkins of Braintree, was a chief inhabitant of the town and a trustee for the poor, and had two wives, the first not mentioned, and the second Mary Levitt - John was buried in 1619 and Mary 3 May 1635.
John Hawkins and Mary had, in addition to Ann: Eleanor (bapt. 6 March 1595, buried in 1609), Mary (m. 8 Nov 1616 Matthew Wright) and Sarah (m. 26 Sept 1622 William Coppin).
Matthew Whipple and Ann Hawkins had (prob. at Bocking): Matthew (bur. 27 Oct. 1623), Matthew (ca. 1624, bur. 3 April 1627), Mary (ca. 1626, living in 1645), Anne (ca. 1628, m. 1st ca. 1647 John Annable and 2nd by 1667 Nicholas Clapp), Elizabeth, Lt. John (6 Sept 1632), Matthew (ca. 1635, d. 20 Oct 1658, m. 10 Dec 1657 Mary, dau. of William Bartholomew; she later m. Jacob Green), and Joseph (ca. 1640, perhaps in Ipswich, MA). See "A Partial List of the Descendants of Matthew Whipple, the Elder, of Bocking, Essex County, England," Henry Burdette Whipple (High Point, NC: Oct. 1965), available at the Ipswich Historical Society, 1 South Village Green, Ipswich, MA 01938 (508/356-2811).
Matthew Whipple's estate inventory was presented 24 Nov 1646 and includes a house, barn and four acres. His descendant, Major General William Denison Whipple (b. 2 Aug 1826 at Nelson, NY, d. 1 April 1902 at New York City), was chief of staff in the Army of Cumberland in the War Between the States, and later on the staffs of Generals Sherman and Sheridan.
