[55264] Theo's obituary: "Swans Island - Theo P. May, age 95, passed away peacefully early on the morning of November 23, 2023, following a very brief illness. She was at Eastern Maine Medical Center with her daughter by her side. Born on April 8, 1928, to Theodore and Alberta (Sprague) Buswell, Theo was the oldest of five siblings. She met her future husband Roy May when he came to the island to work as a woodcutter. She said she fell in love with his beautiful white horse, and then she fell in love with him. The two were married on June 4th,1945 and would go on to have three children together. Theo worked for a while as a waitress at the Morrison restaurant on Swans Island, which was owned by her sister Etta. After that, she worked as a lobster fisherman with Roy, as well as knitting bait pockets and heads to sell to other local fishermen. A talented knitter, Theo made sweaters, mittens, hats, afghans, and baby sets for the people around her. She was a wonderful cook, a social butterfly, and loved flowers, birds, and children. Theo was a very forgiving person. It was her belief that you had to let it go or it would eat you up. She lived by that belief and was known for her cheerful nature. In the 60s, Theo and Roy began fostering teenaged children, including Arnold Nash, Jimmy Ginn, and Richard Leavitt. Later, when those children had moved on, Theo and Roy got a phone call, saying that two children, ages three and four, were in immediate need of a home. Just two days before Christmas, Lori and Jessie (Dewey) Curtis joined their family. Within a few months, the household grew again, as three children, ages four, five, and six arrived. Chris, Donny, and Kevin Turner made them a family of ten. Theo and Roy raised everyone in their full house to adulthood. In later years, Lori left her infant son, Micah, in Theo and Roys care. They gave him their name and he became their son. As the oldest person on Swans Island, Theo was presented with the gold cane. She had the honor of holding it from 2019-2023. She is survived by her daughter-in- law, Gwen May; son, Leonard May and his wife, Jackie; daughter, Lisa Stanley and her husband, Lawrence (Sonny); son, Micah May; brother, Albert Buswell, with whom she had a close bond; sister, Leona Buswell and her wife, Betsy; and canine companion, Lucky all of Swans Island. Theo leaves behind 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great- grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, including an especially-dear-to-her-heart niece, Linda Morrison. She was predeceased by her parents, Ted and Alberta Buswell; her husband, Roy May, who passed in February of 2004; her son, Roger May, who passed in June of 2003; and two sisters, Etta Morrison and Theresa Orcutt."

[48690] "The Ellsworth American [Ellsworth, Maine], 29 July 2021": "Little Deer Isle - Terry Wayne Haskell passed away in his home on Sunday, July 11, 2021, after a valiant and swift battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 72 years old. Terry was born on Nov. 15, 1948, and raised in Ellsworth, though after his parents divorced he often spent time with his father in their ancestral land in Little Deer Isle. Of all the memories from his youth, his favorites (often recalled around a campfire) involved adventures with his older brother, Dana, and his younger brother, David. From a young age, Terry loved music. He spent much of his teenage years playing guitar, appreciating the stylings of Bo Diddley, and spending time with his friends. Terry was a curious soul and a scientist to his bones. After graduating from Ellsworth High School, he studied biology at the University of Maine, focusing on oceanography, marine biology and zoology. With this knowledge, Terry started Little Deer Isle Marine Farm. He became a pioneer of aquaculture in Downeast Maine in the 1970s and early 80s, helping to establish the Maine Aquaculture Association in 1978. Terry married Karen Welch in 1981, becoming a father figure to her daughter, Melissa, and they welcomed their own daughter, Amanda, in 1983. After leaving the aquaculture business, Terry became a supervisor for Elscott Manufacturing, where he worked for 28 years. The couple welcomed their youngest daughter Kaley in 1992. Throughout these years, Karen and Terry exemplified partnership, working around Karens nursing school schedule. Later, they often worked opposite shifts yet still managed to have dinner together with their family every evening. Terry was a man of projects, plans and ideas. He and his wife built two homes together from the ground up. After his youngest daughter went to college, Karen and Terry decided to leave the Ellsworth area and retire to their beloved camp on Little Deer Isle, first building a beautiful home overlooking Penobscot Bay. It was there that Terry lived some of his most joyous days. He spent his days outside with the family dogs, Penny and, later, Buster. He was an avid gardener, an excellent cook, a voracious reader and an amateur small engine mechanic. Above all, Terry loved the water and spending time with his family, combining the two whenever possible. Terry was a good man, thoughtful, smart and hardworking. He was loved by so many, but by his wife and children in particular. He is deeply missed and will never be forgotten. Terry was predeceased by his mother, Flora Schmidt, and his father, Burton Haskell, and a sister, Lillian. Terry is survived by his wife, Karen, daughter Melissa Richards and partner Edwin Gilley, grandsons Dakota Frank and Caleb Richards, daughter Amanda Haskell and husband, Adrian Agostino, daughter Kaley Petros and husband, Matthew Petros, granddaughter Ariadne Petros, brother Dana Haskell and wife, Becky, and brother David Haskell and wife, Donna, two nephews, Justin Haskell and Seth Haskell, and a very special niece, Rachael Richmond, and their families."

[2457] http://womenshistory.about.com/library/bio/blbio_edith_england.htm states: "One of two Ediths who were daughters of King Edward 'the Elder' of England, the mother of this Edith (Eadgyth) is variously identified as Aelflaeda (Elfleda) or Edgiva (Eadgifu). Her brother and half-brothers were kings of England: Aethelstan, Aelfweard, Edmund I and Eadred. Typically for the female offspring of royal rulers, she was married to another expected ruler, but far from home. She married Otto I 'the Great' of Germany, later Holy Roman Emperor, about 929. (Otto married again; his second wife was Adelaide.) Edith (Eadgyth) is interred at St. Maurice Cathedral, Magdeburg, Germany."
