Sometime about 1660, many inhabitants of Sandwich, including Lodowick Hoxie, came under the influence of Friends, or, Quakers, and there established the first Friends Meeting in America. For several generations, a large part of our family remained Quakers and held positions of trust in the Meetings. Lodowick Hoxie married in Dec. 1664, Mary presbury, daughter of John and Katherine Presbury. There children were Ashua, Joseph, Ann, Gideon, Hezekiah, John, Soloman and Content. Joseph and John moved about 1698 to Rhode Island."
