[43880] Find A Grave memorial 30536885 offers: "Jonathan was the son of John Cole and Mary Eaton of Reading, Mass. He was married first in Boxford, Mass. on 8 April 1724 to Judith (or Judah) BROWN, the daughter of Cornelius Brown and Susanna (Story) Clark. He was married second in Harvard, Mass. on 24 June 1747 to Sarah HOLT. Based on the members of the Holt family that appear in the Harvard records, it is likely that Sarah was the widow of Uriah Holt (1702-1741) who died in Lancaster, Mass. If so, then she is probably the Sarah Wright, b. Andover, Mass. 20 Mar 1696, daughter of Walter Wright and Elizabeth Sadie, who married in Andover 28 Sep 1725 Uriah Holt. Jonathan was taxed in Boxford from 1721 to 1744. In 1736 he was dismissed from the First Church in Boxford to help form the Second Church there. About 1745 he moved with his family to Harvard, Mass. and bought a 65-acre farm from Joseph Darby, located on the north side of Pine Hill Brook in Harvard. The year 1746 was a tragic time for Jonathan and his family; he lost his wife, his mother, and three children all within a period of seven weeks. His wife Judith and three children are buried in the Harvard, MA Cem., and buried near them is Deacon Caleb Brown, Judith's brother. Jonathan was officially dismissed by the Boxford Church to the Harvard Church on 7 Jun 1747. In May 1761 Jonathan deeded property to his son Abijah. Presumably this is about the time that he left Harvard and went to settle Westmoreland, New Hampshire, with several members of his family."

He was called The Young Pretender, The Young Chevalier, and Bonnie Prince Charlie, claimant to the British throne who led the Scottish Highland army in the Forty-five Rebellion.
In 1744, after his father had obtained the support of the French government for a projected invasion of England, Charles Edward went to France to assume command of the French expeditionary forces. Unfavorable weather and the mobilization of a powerful British fleet to oppose the invasion led to cancellation of the plan by the French government. Charles Edward persisted in his determination to drive George II from the British throne, however, and in 1745 he arrived in Scotland, where a number of Highland clans came to his assistance. He took Edinburgh, defeated a British force at Prestonpans, and advanced as far south as Derby, England, before being forced to retreat. In April 1746, however, his forces were utterly routed at Culloden Moor. He was hunted as a fugitive for more than five months, but the Highlanders never betrayed him, and he escaped to France in September 1746. Two years later he was expelled from that country in accordance with one of the provisions of the second Treaty of Aix-la-Chapelle (1748), which stipulated that all members of the house of Stuart were to be driven from France. For a number of years Charles Edward wandered about Europe. Secretly visiting London in 1750 and in 1754, he attempted without success on both occasions to win support for his cause. In 1766, on his father's death, Charles Edward returned to Italy, where he spent his last years.
