[9760] Daniel m. (1) March 18, 1875 Mary Elizabeth Scott (1858-1891) and (2) in 1898 Mrs. Saphronia Jones (d. 1918). Daniel was in Kansas in 1904 and in Oklahoma in 1921 per siblings' obituaries. Daniel and Mary had four childen - only the eldest had children, Charles Garman Daron, b. Dec. 27, 1875, d. May 20, 1941, buried in McPherson Cemetery. "The Democrat-Opinion [McPherson, Kansas]," 28 July 1922," p. 1: "Daniel B. Daron a pioneer resident of the Centennial community died at the home of his son Charles Daron on East Elizabeth St., Sunday morning. Mr. Daron had been in poor health since he suffered a stroke last April, and his mind became affected. He had been a little better and was up town Friday. The family went to church Sunday morning and when they returned they found him laying on the side porch dead, with a gun beside him. He had found the gun in the basement and shot himself. Mr. Daron's death was a great shock to his many friends. He homesteaded near Centennial in 1874. In 1898 he went to Oklahoma where he remained until six years ago when he returned to McPherson and has since made his home with his son."

He also served as the director of the West Virginia CYF Summer Conference, President of the District two Ministerial Association, President of the Northwest Ohio Disciples Ministerial Association, Member of the Ohio Regional Christian Education Commission, Member of the Ohio Regional Youth Commission, and Ohio District one and two Youth Advisor. He was pastor of the First Christian Church in Parkersburg from 1993-1996, Pastor of the Parma Christian Church in Parma, Ohio from 1987-1993, Pastor of the First Christian Church in Fostoria, Ohio from 1979-1987, Student Pastor of Cropper Christian Church in Cropper, KY from 1978-1979, Student Youth Minister of the First Christian Church in Corbin, KY and Youth Minister at the Ada Church of Christ from 1973-1974.

Born on February 4, 1919 in Harrisburg, he was the son of the late Milton E. and Bertha (Carl) Rice, and he was the widower of Gloria C. (Dickson) Rice. He graduated from William Penn High School, Class of 1937 and was a US Army Air Force veteran who served during WWII. He received an Air Medal for his work in sinking a Japanese vessel during the war. He was retired from Fidelity Bankers Life Insurance in Richmond, VA where he was a Senior Vice President. A lifelong lover of jazz music, he and his wife Gloria loved to take cruises just to enjoy the jazz played aboard ship. He also was an avid reader. Eugene and Gloria were residents of Sun City Center, FL for 17 years. He is survived by four sons, Gregg Rice and his wife Nancy, of New Cumberland; Ronald Rice and his wife Claire, of Santa Barbara, CA; Steven Rice and his wife Debbie, of Florham Park, NJ; Jeffrey Rice, and his wife Marilyn, of Mechanicsville, VA; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren."
