[31202] In 2019 the unverified file at https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Manwaring-361 offers: "Oliver Mainwaring, Gentleman of Exeter, Sowton and Dawlish, Devon, is the son of Oliver Mainwaring and Margaret Torbock. He was referred to as being about 79 in 1666, so we can place his birth at about 1587. In 1618, he married Prudence Esse, daughter of Henry, Gentleman of Sowton, Devon, and Loveday, daughter of Richard Moyle of St. Austle, Cornwall. The couple had one daughter, Anne, and several sons, including Christopher, Esse, Oliver, William and Richard. Oliver's three brothers all entered a Catholic seminary. Oliver, it appears, was the sole exception. Oliver became heir to his father's older brother, Christopher Mainwaring in 1634, when Christopher died without issue and with no will. He passed away on March 14, 1672/3, and was buried at Dawlish, Devon." There is an extensive discussion of this person and his wife and their parents in http://archiver.rootsweb.ancestry.com/th/read/GEN-MEDIEVAL/2011-02. One proposed ancestry for Oliver is presented by http://cybrary.uwinnipeg.ca/people/dobson/genealogy/ff/Mainwaring/Mainwaring.cfm in 2013. Ancestry.com offers: "Mainwaring Name Meaning - English (of Norman origin): habitational name from a lost place, of uncertain location, named in Anglo-Norman French as mesnil Warin 'domain of Warin' (see Waring). The surname has had a large number of variant spellings; it is normally pronounced 'Mannering'."
