[40523] In 2016 http://www.basfordfamily.org/ThomasBasfordRegister reports: "On 25 Oct 1821, Alfred purchased a parcel of land in Montgomery County from John Kinder. On 13 Jun 1822, John Kinder and Alfred Basford sold land to Joseph Neel. He was of Middlebrooke Mills, Montgomery Co., MD at the time of the death of his 'youngest daughter' (Matilda Ann) on 21 May 1828. On 8 Oct 1827, Alfred Basford sold personal property to Gohn Griffin. 1840 federal census for Buckey, 1st Dist., Frederick Co., MD, p. 158 - Alfred Basford, 2 males under 5, 1 male 5-9, 1 male 50-59, 1 female under 5, 1 female 5-9, 1 female 15-19, 1 female 40-49. He died intestate, and Abraham Blitzenburg was appointed administrator of his estate on 16 May 1848. (Ellen, Alfreds widow, and son John T. Basford had filed a Letter of Rununciation on 8 May 1848 recommending the appointment of Abraham.) Invenorty of his estate was filed on 18 May 1848, and a final account was made on 4 Jun 1850. On 14 Jun 1854, John Thomas Basford was authorized to sell the real property of Alfred Basford, deceased. Probate records list children John T. Basford, Ellen (living in Virginia), Elizabeth (all of full age of 21 years), Henry (who turned 21 on 12 Jun 1854), and Charlotte, Susan, George, Alfred and Adam (all under 21 as of 21 Oct 1854). Daniel P. Renner was appointed guardian of the minor children. Each of the children received a 1/9 share of the estate. He first married Matilda Larman on 29 May 1818 in Montgomery Co., MD. Born ? . Matilda died bef 1822. They had the following children: Ellen (~1819-?); John Thomas (~1820-<1890). He second married Eleanor Smith on 12 Feb 1824 in Montgomery Co., MD. Born abt 1798 in Maryland. age 52 in 1850 census. Eleanor died in Frederick Co., MD, bef 10 Oct 1853. administration of her estate. aka: Ellen." A bond for the administration of her estate was posted on 10 Oct 1853, and a final account of the estate was posted by John T. Basford on 28 Nov 1854. They had the following children: Elizabeth Ann (~1825-?); Alfred Z. (Died as Child) (1826-1827); Matilda Ann (Died as Child) (1828-1828); Henry Clay (1833-?); Charlotte (Never Married) (~1834-?); George W. (~1835-?); Susan E. (~1838-?); Adamson Thomas (~1839-1875); Alfred (~1842-?); Mary E. (~1849-?)."

[876] http://www.stanwoodfamily.com offers: "Martha Bradstreet, the wife of Job Stanwood, was unusually well educated was a matter frequently referred to by her descendants. My grandmother, Mrs. Solomon Stanwood, related that the neighbors described Mrs. Job Stanwood not only as a woman with an uncommonly good education but they declared that she even wrote poetry. That Job appreciated these qualities in his wife is evident from the fact that he quoted her wise sayings and referred to her good judgment so frequently as to excite the smiles of the neighbors. Many trifles point to a wise and sweet disposition in Martha. For instance, I notice that the first daughter is named Hannah Byles for the young wife who died at the age of twenty-four years. Another indication of her tact is seen in her naming the second child for Job himself. Further wisdom may be observed in the naming of their third child, Samuel, for the boy who listened for the commands of the Lord. Even then they were considering founding a new home in the wilderness, a man with one arm and wretched health, with a wife and family for to provide. But I fancy that even the capable Martha had her moments of discouragement and that when she was far away from her old home at times her heart cried out for her people. Undoubtedly it was at such times that she solaced herself by naming the one son Benjamin Bradstreet and another Humphrey Bradstreet."
