[46800] Find A Grave memorial 35060790 offers William's obituary: "William Bernheisel, age 74 years, 1 month, 11 days, died at his home in Green Park, Tyrone Twp. Perry county Pa., after an illness lasting a number of years. He died of complications and weakness. He death although expected at any time came suddenly--after he had walked across the room apparently no worse that he had been in weeks. The deceased was the son of the late Jacob and Sarah (Sheibley) Bernheisel and was born at the old Bernheisel homestead, near Green Park, in Tyrone Township. He spent all his days as a tiller of the soil in which he was successful and in later years purchased the former Stambaugh farm, just south of Green Park, on which he resided until his death. January 19, 1864, Mr. Bernheisel was united in wedlock with Miss Fannie J. Noll, daughter of the late Michael Noll of Green Park. Rev. Solomon Bigham of the U.B. Church officiating. From this union there survive the widow and the following children: Charles E.- Harvey N.- and Jacob C. all of Green Park: James S. and M. Mitilda, wife of F.J. Benuer, of Harrisburg. one daughter, Charlotte K. wife of N.J. Briner of Green Park, is dead. There also survives one brother, George Bernheisel, of New Kingston, Cumberland County, and two sisters: Mrs. Mary Swartz of this place, and Mrs. Daniel Julius of Markleville. In his boyhood days Mr. Burnheisel united with Lebanon Reformed church at Loysville, under the ministry of the now sainted Rev. Charles Leinbach. and one of the officers in that church, until St. John's Reformed Church at Elliotsburg was erected in 1872. It being much nearer his home, he with his family as well many others of the Reformed faith in that vicinity, transfered his mambership to that church. and has held offices in the church and he held office in the church continuously until the past year. Mr. Burnheisel lived up to the full measure of his christian privileges. He stood for the best in his church membership, was a most liberal giver, a constant attendant at devine services as long as health permitted and was recognized as a pillar if strength among among the membership of the church. As a man Mr. Bernheisel was respected by all who knew him. His word was his bond and was never questioned. He was generous and open hearted and the poor of the community found him most giving. A man of recognized sound judgement, his council was often sought. He held local offices on a number of occasions and in politics he was an avowed Republican, but liberal in his views, supporting only those men and measures he deemed worthy. Funeral services were held at St. John's Church, Elliotsburg. The funeral was one of the most attended ever held in that section attesting to his high esteem in which the departed was held. - Taken from the 'Peoples Advocate & Press, New Bloomfield, Perry County, Pa. August 9, 1911.'"
