Hutchins, 99, formerly of Kingfield, died June 8, 1990 at an Orono nursing home where he had been a patient for the past year, after a short illness. He was born Jan. 11, 1891 in Fowler, N.Y., the son of Mr. and Mrs. R. Baxter Hutchins. He was educated in the schools of Wilton and Strong. He married Hazel Weymouth on April 7, 1917 at Lewiston. He was a member of Mount Abram Masonic Lodge No. 204, AF & AM, of Kingfield, and a past patron of Signal Light Order of the Eastern Star of Kingfield. In his younger years he was a lumberman, and a farmer for several years. He owned and operated the Hutchins Grocery Store in Kingfield for 37 years. He worked for 20 years for Kingfield Savings Bank, holding the position at various times as a treasurer, the president of the bank, later served on the Board of Directors, holding the position of president until his retirement in 1978. He was also town treasurer of Kingfield for 37 years. He served two terms in the State Legislature. He enjoyed reading and traveling. He is survived by two sons, Clement Hutchins of Andover, Mass. and Dr. Deane L. Hutchins, M.D. of Orono; one daughter, Martha Schelling of Naples, Fla.; nine grandchildren and 17 greatgrandchildren."

He was Ordained Elder at Gilead Church, and a member of the Olney Masonic Lodge for 46 years and a member of the Richland County Farm Bureau. Survivors include his wife Margaret Shirley Parker, Claremont; three daughters, Dorothy Margaret Spease and husband Donald, Kansasville, WS; Paula Lynn Gay and husband Ronald, Claremont; Valerie Lynne Gibson and husband Bill, Spring, TX; four brothers, Carl Homer 'Jack' Parker, Highland, TX; Henry Weeke Parker, Crosby, TX; Wilbur Thurston Parker and Robert Dale Vernon Parker, both of Highland, TX; one sister, Lillie Mane Shaffer, Pearland, TX; 8 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and 3 step-greatgrandchildren. Mr Parker was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers - Frederick, Hansel and Oscar, and 2 sisters - Vera and Dorothy."
