A posting on genforum 7 Oct 2003 by Robert Thompson offers: "Hope Hull Watts had a son by a second marriage, Hope Hull Watts Jr. Hope Hull Watts Jr. married Sarah E. Baskin b July 24, 1841. Sarah Baskin was the daughter of James Baskin b Aug. 18, 1800 Abbeville Co., S.C.; 1828 to Carroll Co., Ga.; Judge: Methodist minister d mar. 4, 1888 Hickory Level, Carroll Co., GA. and sister to my Great-Grandmother Mary A.E. Baskin Thompson, wife of Dr. James Dalrymple Thompson. James Dalrymple Thompson and Hope Hull Watts Jr. obtain their Medical degrees at the Southern Botanico School of Medicine of Macon Ga. in the year 1856. They set up practice that year in the town of Cave Springs GA. My Great-grandfather Dr. J. D. Thompson sold his business holdings and his newly constructed home to his brother-in -law Hope Hull Watts Jr. and Hope Hull's older half brother George T. Watts in 1859. George T. Watts graduated from the same medical school (renamed the Reform Medical School of Macon GA.) in 1859. Both Hope Hull Watts Jr. and George T. Watts serve in the Civil War. Hope Hull Watts Jr. for the Union and George T. Watts for the Confederacy. Hope Hull Watts Jr. returned to Polk Co. GA after the war but was unable to reestablish himself in the south. He briefly held the position of Post Master in Cedartown Ga. before relocating his family North. The home built by my Great-grandfather and purchased by Hope Hull and brother Geroge T. Watts still stands in the town of Cave Springs, Floyd Co. GA and is listed on the National Historical Register for the State of Georgia." http://www.ronulrich.com/rfuged/fam08534.htm reports Joseph was b. ca. 1860 in OH.
