Gene was employed as maintenance supervisor at Maine Coast Memorial Hospital for 20 years and retired in 1997 from the Ellsworth School Department as maintenance supervisor. He was a 40-year member of Lygonia Masonic Lodge No. 40, Anah Temple Lobster Boat Unit, member of the Union Congregational Church of Ellsworth Falls and the Ellsworth Booster Club. He enjoyed camping, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Dianne P. Carter of Ellsworth; daughter, Tammy Carter of Ellsworth; stepsons, William Conary Jr and wife, Jane, of Ellsworth, Robert Conary and wife, Lori, of Denver, Colo., Steven Conary and wife, Jennifer, of Richmond and Mark Conary and wife, Jessica, of Lincolnville; 14 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; brother, Albert Carter and wife, Sandra, of Ellsworth."

[20197] The Perry County Freeman," 11 April 1888, published an article: "Last Wednesday, April 4, 1888, Mrs. Margaretta Rice, of New Bloomgifled, Pa., saw her 90th birthday, in fair measure of health and strength. ...Grandmother had 11 children, 6 of whom are still living. Her son William was the first male child born in New Bloomfield, after its choice as the county-seat. ...Grandmother's father was Nicholas Ickes. Towards the close of the 17th century, a colony of 3000 persons from Eisleben in the Kingdom of Upper Saxony, under the guidance of William Penn, came to Montgomery county, Pennsylvania. There was one Iskes among the number with 7 children, who located 1000 acres of land north of the Schuylkill river. Michael Ickes, the fourth son, remained on his part of the old homestead until his death by drowning in the river. Michael's eldest son, Nicholas, at the early age of 16, went into the Revolutionary war. In 1795 he removed to Cumberland county, which then included what is now Perry county. Perry ws set off from Cumberland in 1820. Nicholas Ickes came into possession of perhaps 350 acres of land in and around Idkesburg - now owned by the inhabitants of the village, and Nicholas Hench, farm below town, and George B. Sheaffer, farm above town, and the Adams mill property. His tract also extende dup towards the Tuscarora mountain now held by various owners. In 1818 Mr. Ickes laid out some town lots, sold them and gave his name to the new village - Ickesburg. He was twice married, becoming the father of 20 children. He died in 1849." [57580] Ralph's obituary: "Bradley - Ralph Wesley Snow, 81, husband of Joan Rita (Ste. Marie) Snow, passed away suddenly July 22, 2015 at a Bangor hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was born December 15, 1933 in Old Town, the son of Philip Frederick and Vera Mae (White) Snow. A graduate of John Bapst High School, he served his country honorably in the United States Air Force for 20 years. Following his honorable discharge, he was the manager at General Aviation at Bangor International Airport, after which, he enjoyed his retirement. Ralph and Joan have developed many special friendships in their travels, through his passion for aviation and the many restaurants they frequented. He is survived by his 'favorite' wife of 59 years Joan of Bradley; four children Mary (Snow) Shorette and her husband Joseph of Bradley, Ralph P. Snow and his friend Janet Hinkie of West Monroe, LA, Diana Snow of Bradley, and Carlene (Snow) Bilodeau and her husband Gary of Dedham. He enjoyed the company of his grandchildren and great grandchildren: Christopher Shorette and his wife Sarah and their children Alexi and Griffin; Heather (Shorette) Graffam and her husband Thomas and their son Noah; Philip Snow, and Brody Bilodeau; brother-in-law Jaye A. McKenney of Lamoine and Punta Gorda, FL; nieces and nephews Mary J. (McKenney) Briggs and family of NH; Timothy J. McKenney and his wife Lynne and family Duncannon, PA; James "Andy" McKenney and his wife Tammy and their family of Dallas, TX; Cheryl A. McKenney of Sidney, ME; his cousin, Lois Ouellette, of The Villages, FL; and many other nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, his sister Shirley (Snow) McKenney, and his aunt, Marion Goulette."
