He was born May 11, 1919, at Crawford, the son of Victor and Hazel (Perry) Archer. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and attended the Woodland Baptist Church. For 40 years, he was a registered Maine guide. He was a member of Harwood Lodge No. 91, AF & AM of Machias. he retired from the St. Regis Paper Co. after 20 years of service. During his retirement he was occasionally employed by both Thomas DiCenzo & Son Inc. of Calais and G. E. Goding & Son of Woodland. He is survived by one daughter, Paula R. Carter of Woodlanbd; one brother, Russell Archer of Meddybemps; three sisters, Virginia Bowker and Lillian Ellis, both of Machias and Lois Joyce of Falmouth; two grandchildren, Jenny Lyn Guptill of Princeton and Troy A. Carter of Arizona; two great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews; and a loving companion, Arline Lowe of Crawford."
